Fuifui Moana Moimoi - We will miss you

FYI - Fuifui is playing his first competition match today (2.00 AM Monday AESST) against relegated Bradford at Home in Leigh. The two haven't played each other since Leigh's one season in Super League (2005) in which Bradford thrashed them on the two occasions they met.

If you're an insomniac (and / or a League Nerd with no responsibilities to fulfil on Monday) you can stay up in your Fuifui wig and listen to the game (links http://www.rugbyleagueontv.co.uk/).

Apparently the attendance is expected to come near or break the record for regular a season crowd at this level. The current record is 8,189 (Widnes v Salford, 2008).

Anyway - Good luck, Fui! Parra's behind you!

Don't bradford have a few ex-NRL players too. Pretty sure Mullaney plays for them

Yeah, an amazing number for that level of footy - Bradford have taken advantage of the Kolpak rule (which allows Pacific Islanders and people from other regions to have unrestricted right to work in the EU - so they're immune to the o/s player quota) and brought in mainly ex-NRL Polynesians and Aussies with EU passports courtesy of Mum or Dad...

Aside from Mullaney they've also got our own Etuate Uaisele (Tongan passport holder), Adrian Purtell, Epalahame Lauaki (Tongan Passport holder), and Harry Siejka (Polish passport holder).

Anyway, for those of you playing at home - Moimoi's boys won 36 - 24 in front of 7,449 at Leigh.

Sounds like an ill-tempered clash. Will have to dig up how Fui went. The other former Eels both scored tries.

Relegated Bradford got off to a losing start in the opening round of the Kingstone Press Championship.

The Bulls let slip a 20-6 lead to go down 36-24 to reigning champions Leigh in an ill-tempered clash in front of a 7,449 crowd at Leigh Sports Village,

It was Leigh\'s biggest crowd since 7,548 watched the visit of Wigan in Super League in 2005 and they witnessed a full-blooded encounter featuring an all-in brawl and six yellow cards.

It was 11-a-side for a time as the Centurions had Jamie Acton, Gregg McNally and Kurt Haggerty sin-binned while Danny Williams was yellow carded for Bradford and his team-mate Harry Siejka was sin-binned twice.

McNally scored two second-half tries and others came from Ryan Brierley, Liam Kay, Tom Armstrong and Sean Penkywicz, with Martyn Ridyard kicking six goals.

Hooker Adam O'Brien scored Bradford's first and last tries and others came from skipper Chev Walker and debutants Etu Uaisele and Jake Mullaney, with Siejka kicking two goals.

Check out Fui's new hair...
