Hi all,

I'm not a panther supporter and I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before but I have pretty good mail that the panthers are going to offer a former english based fullback a deal at the panthers. If the player agrees with the deal it will be as good as done.

I'm sorry but I cant mention names but he can play and should be a decent buy. He can also play 5/8 which is why they are looking at him.

I know I also hate the NO NAMES posts but I'm cant mention names...sorry.

See what happens.

penrith have next to no money left under the cap. They have plenty of young talent coming through the club.Wesser will be the starting fullback.Nice rumour but just that a rumour

Only one I can think of is Mark McLindon...and I would not complain if we got him cause he is ripping them apart over there.

Mate it's not a rumour it's fact. You are right about their cap but they are still looking at offering something. Whether the player accepts is another thing but they ARE talking. like I said i'm not a panthers supporter so I don't give a F#@k whether he signs or not but I thought I would just post what I know anyway.

Lets just see what comes of it and like my post said maybe he will play 5/8.

It could be Mark Mclinden because he would have a connection with Elliot although Elliot may be the reason he left. Still wish he was with the Raiders =(

If Rhys Wesser isn't our fullback in 2008 for any reason, whether it be injury or form, i'm more then comfortable with Jarrod Sammut playing there. Or even Michael Gordon.

there are a few currently playing fullback that have been linked to coming back to australia
clint greenshields, brett webb , mark mc lindon all good footballers.Webb being the only one as a fullback being on par .But mcclindon being able to play many postions well .Time will tell
Elliott may have a trick left .

It won't be Mclinden Elliott's the reason he left Canberra
Wesser,Gordon,Sammutt they are three good options we don't need another.

Wesser is a Penrith legend and on form as good as any fullback in the comp IMO and if Sammut doesn't get a crack at 5/8 Wess had better be on top form.No need for an import.

Did he play under Elliott at Bradford?

Is he currently involved with one of the Penrith dev squads?

Personally, I would be surprised if there are any late additions to our squad for 2008. I'm sure there are limited funds available for a low key addition to the PL squad but I think the top 25 tier 1 squad is set in concrete. Fullback is probably the last position we would need cover considering our numerous options from Wesser, Sammut, Gordon, Williams and Georgetown not to mention a couple of young guns in the Under 20's including Lachlan Coote.

Georgetown? Didn't he leave us?
Williams? Good player with the ball in hand. Not a fullback.

Honestly, i'd take Coote or Watene ahead of Richie Williams at fullback. Although i think Wesser, Sammut and Gordon will have the position more then covered. Here's hoping Wesser keeps full fit and plays every game through to the Grand Final :)

Your absolutely right Liam Georgetown was not resigned.

Liam aside Rhys Wesser in my opinion is the greatest fullback ever to play for this club and I still believe he has a lot to offer and capable of continuing his try scoring exploits for a couple of more seasons.

Rhys Wesser is due for a big year. He was held back for a while in 2007 with injury, before suffering a season ending injury.

Also, he is going to want to prove he deserves the jersey ahead of Jarrod Sammut.Might even want to take the highest try scorer from Michael Jennings... between them i think we can expect over 40 tries.

I am guessing it is Robbie Paul who has signed for Salford who are relegated this year... Stappo will play for them this year too I think

Had an alcohol induced chat to a couple of the players at the Peachtree Hotel on Saturday just passed who indicated they were not aware of any late additions to the playing roster.

From what I can recall of Saturday, which is not a great deal, I am doubtful of any late inclusions to the Panthers playing staff for this coming season.

Latest mail: Mclinden and Webb are being looked at with a view of interest in Sammut from the Chooks. Cant reveal my source.

f**k Sammut will be a big loss for our future if the Rorters take him.... I will be disappointed with the management if Sammut goes.

However if fibros mail comes true i wouldnt mind Brent Webb
