Boyd was a decent player but more a myth and a complete dickhead on the field. Lets break jaws and try and dig another blokes eyes out. But hey its all a game and it should stay on the field ..... Its even more a disgrace that Boyd got this recognition than Benny did

This is one of those issues where Im not sure where I stand on it.

On one hand, when you look at his pure record, he was meant to be the best second-rower in the world for a five year period or so. He played a fair bit of footy the UK back when it was a very tough place to play as well. I did not watch him play but I've spoked to a couple of blokes of older vintage who say he was pretty good.

On the other hand, both also said words to the effect that he liked to hurt blokes more than play footy. His judiciary record, actual on-field actions and words from other players have backed this up. Even for those times, he seemed to be a particularly bad bloke who got away with a lot of things as well.

Vautin was a trier not an enforcer. WFS was a tremendous hitman in defence, not dirty at all.

Personally I think the old "selectors made me do it" is a bit of bullshit, Geyer has used this as an excuse for many years also.

Seems to be way to avoid responsibility.

And for Masters to use the Roo tour selection controversy (note he labels the QLDers as "mutinous"), what a load of emotive rubbish.

And Vautin and Fullerton-Smith were more Jurbo than JWH.
