Lathem robinson could be knocked down and made two tiered whilst retaining the hill

the stands at west where you walk in (wooden ones) could be replaced if they aren’t heritage but I heard they are full of termites

There is only one of the wooden grandstands left, the other was demolished many years ago because of the termites, think they were both heritage listed but one was structurally unsound because of termite damage.
The Latchem Robinson Stand could do with a rebuild, as you said two tiered and have brand new corporate and broadcasting facilities. They can't do much on the hill side with the housing that backs onto it so the hill stays.

If they demolish the hill they may as well give up on lo that’s it’s best bit

Seems made up to me.

I don't see any negative in souths playing there as well especially if there is an agreement for reciprocal memberships in games between the 2.

It would be great to the see the SFS with four main tenants, The Roosters, The Rabbits, Sydney FC and The Waratahs, would shut up the naysayers saying it was a waste of tax payers money.

They can't demolish the hill because of the houses that back on to it. I love the Leichhardt Oval hill, there is no way it will ever go. A new modern Grandstand on the Western side and some minor things done at the Northern end and possibly the Southern end if they can.

If your stadiums best feature is a grass mound its not saying much about the stadium lol.
Lo is a boutique ground. I strongly recommend you to watch a game there on a Sunday afternoon vs another Sydney side (especially if the weather is good)

you would then “get” Sydney rugby league lol

lo combines Sydney’s two best features … the harbour and rugby league !

for the 5 years pre covid
Roosters avg 14.2k
Souths 15.1k

3 years souths had higher crowds 2 years roosters did.

There's not much between them.
Is that home crowd averages?

Keep in mind, Souths would have been playing at ANZ Stadum & the Roosters at the SFS, so there's gonna be a difference in spectator experiences.. which could provide one with a bit of a boost.

I've stood in enough dilapidated grounds in my time watching 2 local teams play thanks. Derbies at the Boulevard and old Craven Park where insane, but they were still sht grounds

Lo isn’t a dump like English grounds that’s the point.

it’s situated on the harbour and surrounded by trees. And the angle of the hill is so steep even if you are standing at one end you get a decent view of the other end

sure it’s a headache to get into and more so out of but for 3 games a year it’s good enough

and fyi I wouldn’t have spent any money on it it would’ve all gone to Campbelltown

this is bc the premier is a tigers fan and I’m guessing more so a Balmain fan

I’m sure if you actually went to a game there you would change your views. This is the spiritual home of one of the foundation clubs of the game

Sure but we got better home crowds in 2019 at the shitty SCG which is worse. Also, I’m sure there was a Souths fans survey, the club released justifying their tenancy at ANZ so that’s where they think they’re likely to get the most attendance.

I'd love to see Souths move to the new SFS, Bulldogs move to a new build at Liverpool (or even move out of Sydney), Tigers to Campbelltown (or share with Bulldogs at Liverpool) and Stadium Australia become a hefty White Elephant.

Now that the stadiums are under the control of one entity, can Stadium Australia still pitch an offer to the clubs to remain? It’s weird Souths haven’t committed to Allianz yet. I’m assuming they’re waiting on a big money offer before deciding where to go.

Are they under one? IO nkow that was the intention but That article made it sound like the SCG trust group were trying to entice Souths to move back. Do they control all the stadiums?

yes home crowd avg's, though obviously Souths in Perth, Roosters in Adelaide etc skews those figures in regards to Sydney crowds to some small degree.

Its way down my list of world stadiums Id like to visit. I've got a park at the end of the road.
LO has only drawn one decent crowd avg in the 5 years (pre covid). Should be one game there in heritage round for the old farts and the rest in a decent modern venue befitting a premier sporting competition. Spending $60mill on it is a ridiculous waste of money.

This article states current contracts to be honoured but will they be able to dictate where a club plays in the future by making one stadium available and another one not?

Venues NSW and the Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust (SCGT) has been merged by the New South Wales (NSW) Government to create a single entity for sporting and entertainment venues with the objective of attracting big-ticket events and drive economic activity across the Australian State. The New South Wales Parliament recently passed legislation to this effect.

New South Wales has strengthened its position as Australia’s number one destination for sports and live entertainment as Venues NSW supercharges the State’s major sports and entertainment venues.

Acting Minister for Sport Geoff Lee said the merging of the Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust (SCGT) and Venues NSW will ensure taxpayers receive maximum bang for their bucks.

They have said they want to move. But they signed a deal to stay at acccor which they are arguing is invalid as it isn’t being upgraded as promised
