What the hell does 750 million get you?
An enclosed, multi-purpose stadium on the harbour.
It is simply not necessary. Fans detest Australia’s only roofed multi purpose stadium (Marvel) and also the only other multi purpose stadium (Accor). They could build a regular 27k oval stadium for $350m, and $150m on a 12k rectangular stadium elsewhere if and when they get an A League club and have a much better outcome for all sports.

Its planned to be retractable, which makes sense in somewhere as cold as tassie. Good that it can be reconfigured for rectangular games as well, Storm have a good following in Tassie and could play some games there maybe.
Ambitious but good luck to them.

$750 million for a 27k stadium....Geez thats crazy. And the new SFS will be well over $800 million for just a 42k stadium. The stadium costs are just getting out of control.

High cost is partly due to being built on land partially reclaimed from the sea, like Optus in Perth. Plus the roof and moveable seats add to the cost.
They also plan to make York Park in Launceston 27,500 regardless of whether they get an AFL team. 190 page report here

Naturally you would assume that the NSW govt has/will prepare similar document for public discussion before committing to any stadium upgrades. I am sure they are well underway.

The dogs own the land at Liverpool. So if the tigers are onboard I don’t think the dogs would say no. It would be the start of the dogs moving all there facilities out that way. If you check out how much land they have in that area. You’d have to think that the tigers would end up the lesser tenant

Looking at the 1940s aerial photos onlythe southern grandstand could be considered heritage. With just a little refurbishment LO is still great for NSWRL games.
IMO the Tigers need to find ONE modern stadium as home.
And that stand only existed because of its original E-W configuration

Their CofE and LC is at Belmore isnt it? That's 20km away from Liverpool.

Wouldn't MacArthur want to play in MacArthur? There is already a team called Western Sydney.
Its only 20km and the difference between playing at a run down Campbelltown and a new stadium is pretty significant. I suppose it will depend on rent and demand. Would be an easier sell for sponsors thats for sure.

We are constantly being told that Sydneysiders will not travel around town for games. If 20km is nothing, then we don't need a stadium in Liverpool, as it is 16km from Parramatta.
Surely Wests Tigers and MacArthur play in Cambelltown, and Dogs play @ Homebush, where they have been based for 24 seasons, and is much, much closer to Belmore than Liverpool. Being the only team playing @ ACCOR, possibly under a roof, might actually boost their crowds, and give them an advantage if they ever return to semi finals.

Accor is sht house and probably one of the reasons Bulldogs needed a $5mill grant from the LC to pay the bills, fans don't want to sit in a large empty stadium and I wouldnt think its easy selling a box in a place with as much atmosphere as the moon to corporates. the throw in how shthouse it makes the game looks on TV there and we come to the conclusion Accor should not be home to anyone!

there has been no indication Campbelltown is getting anything so Wests playing there isnt a great proposition is it?

A roof in Tasmania is highly practical, and there’s no real inner city land available for a ‘regular’ oval.

I hope they're held to the full 800 mill too

not 650 , with 150 mill spent on a pointless roof on homebush. If they want that , thats fine but it shouldn't be part of the suburban plan.
Penrith & Brookvale are a lock in at about 600 mill for a brand new stadium 25K seat at penrith , & new grand stands on the eastern , western & sthn sides at brookie to go with the Fulton stand making it a modern 20K all seater

who gets the rest ?
Brookie needs to be 22 To 25
