The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Messages

Meeting on Monday between vlandys abdo and the premier

lack of funding in the recent budgets for grounds is a concern and it could cost Sydney the gf this year

also apparently Ayres wanted less money for Cronulla and Brookie so Penrith could get a roof
Vlandys will demand $800 mill , details of which grounds are to be replaced or upgraded
( he would have the NRL's ideas about that ready) & a clear timeline .... In Writing via a clear contract/agreement with the ARLC !!

Enough stuffing around , some more detail please

except one has twice the capacity of the other , wanna play in an 11K capacity stadium ?

play in the NSW cup
well the nrls newest club is playing in two 12k Capacity stadiums next year. It seems the nrl has given up on trying to get fans to watch the game live!

they could do more with the money if they built new 20-25k stadiums. Nrl doesn’t need 30k stadiums for most clubs, was at commbank and thought if you built that with a third smaller capacity and corporate facilities you could save $50-100mill and build more of them and create demand for memberships and tickets. Could be designed for expansion in future years but 20k ish is more than enough for most Sydney clubs.

Says who ?
hasn't been confirmed where they're playing yet & even if they do play a game or 2 away from Suncorp at Redcliffe & the Sunshine coast , yesterdays comparison would be like the Dolphins chose to play the Cowboys at one of those 2 .. instead .. of Suncorp.

The Dolphins have a world class venue at their disposal , will play most of their games at it & will draw some huge crowds there in 2023 , so a poor comparison.

the NRL's plan is for all sydney clubs to be able to be playing at the following as early as next year but all by about 2027
new SFS 42500 roosters , souths , maybe some dragons , maybe some sharks , even the bulldogs aren't that far away from it
penrith 30000 only the panthers , an indulgence, pork barreling monument but its a new venue for the NRL so good enough

parramatta 30000 eels , some tigers , bulldogs
manly 22000, manly only

thats all we know at this point ,
dragons ( in sydney ) sharks , & the dogs & tigers place in this plan is not clear yet & we will know more soon.

So your assertion that the NRL seems to have given up on getting fans to attend games live is absurd when the evidence is clear they are doing the exact opposite

Again
its not even remotely the same thing when the Dolphins will play all their bigger games at a venue that will boost their fan base , memberships .. corporate support & profile generally
If the sharks had a 5/7 split between shark park & the new SFS .. then it would be the same
but they're playing every game at that turd of a venue & thats ... unacceptable.

big hit!

Current Shark Park is the same standard as the current panther park - I've been to both plenty of times so can compare, it's why they are both getting upgraded!

Penrith Park is categorically light years ahead of Endeavour Field, particularly the players and officials areas and boxes.

What the f**k were they doing down there for 2 seasons that they had to play away from the venue. The Leagues club side is still a construction site with lower capacity than before, and the Ettingshausen stand is not much better than a community facility rather than professional sport. And they have temporary marquees such as the Chairmans Club, etc. Most folks need to stand around the venue too.

The playing surface looks good though. Only thing going for it at the moment. 1 game every 2 weeks, they should be able to maintain a high standard pitch.

agreed.
as it stands, panthers does not need 300m of investment

they were away because of the road works that were a prerequisite of the development (duplication of captain cook drive) making the place unfit to have patrons and other construction related stuff that would have effected the ability to broadcast

2024 you mean.

2023 they lose access to Suncorp, For about 8 weeks due to the soccer world. So smaller grounds are needed

And for 2024?

Melbourne will have to do similar.

Sydney still has Commbank atleast to use
Melbourne can use GMHBA Stadium in Geelong, Mars Stadium in Ballarat, Lavington in Albury or even look at taking a couple of games to Tasmania during the FIFA occupation. They could also see if they can borrow the MCG for a game but there's no way the AFL will allow them to use Marvel Stadium. Sydney still has god forbid, the SCG but the Roosters could roster their home games in Gosford and Mackay for the period that New Allianz is occupied, Souths the same in Dubbo and Gosford, Canterbury with the Belmore, Bundaberg and CommBank games as well while Accor is unavailable. Brisbane will be the tricky one, the Broncos might just borrow The Gabba as QE II is no longer up to scratch

Sydney really isn't an issue.

Roosters can play away games but have used Central coast in the past.

Souths and Bulldogs too share games around

Penrith, Manly, WT, Sharks and Dragons have their grounds free - should CommBank need a week off.

GC isn't on the list either. So could be a fallback for the Broncs.

Could we see a magic round or a double header played at Optus I wonder? There will also be the extra byes from the 17th club to be used during this period. I'm sure with some smart scheduling and taking the opportunity to take some games on the road it wont be too much of a problem.

There's only AAMI, SFS, Accor and Suncorp being used that will impact NRL. (Leichardt Oval as well as a training site but Tigers have other options) Storm and Broncos will be hardest hit.
