The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

because the game is all over the place with too many dinosaurs leading the conversations

2018 NRL is praising NSW govt for plans to redevelop SFS, 2022 Vlandy's is slagging them off for it being a waste of money. Sigh.
but

Vlandys is right..
the bum lickers in 2018 were not

our code didn't ask for a cathedral in the east , it isn't needed & 400 million wasted on it could have fixed at least 3 grounds elsewhere

Again the stupidity of our own game. Rather than be chuffed we got Govt to build another state of the art stadium for a club, we are now lobbying them to abandon it. Just to chuck wasted money on doing up numerous grounds that still wont make them anything like decent modern stadiums. There is no wonder Govt's have and continue to laugh at our sport!
nope

just pointing out ... the astonishing hypocrisy

Isn't that offside then?

To knock on to your own team mate who gathers possession?

Edit: wrong thread

So the Penrith area gets shafted again to pander to all you easties! The real NRL heartland in Sydney suffers because they don't have an AFL, ALeague or RU team to share with.
Penrith are the biggest RL nursery in the world and reigning premiers, but don't deserve a decent stadium.
But somehow perennial underachievers like SGI, MW, CS, WT all deserve upgrades first.
Makes good sense

Pretty much although a league team wouldn’t be sharing with an AFL team. Get yourself another tenant and you’ll be fine.

To be fair a better option would be to build a stadium near enough to where the second airport will be built. You could share s stadium with the Tigers and maybe the Dogs

I don't think the one main tenant is that big an issue as long as it secure 5 or 6 decent events for the region. Better we get a new stadium in penrith for one Ft tenant that waste money on 3 suburban dumps with the same, or less!

5 You beaut stadiums for Sydney is about right
SFS - Tick
Commbank - Tick
Penrith - Hopeful Tick
Then
Southern Stadium
Northern Stadium

WIN -new stand with better corporates to take current 13k undercover seats to 20k.
Newcastle - end stands

That's all that's needed. Spend a few mill on the suburban grounds to make them safe and fit for local sport. Sorted.

U live in Perth. Shut up

Buzz is a dinosaur. He just wants money spent on his precious gummies. He has no idea what the stadium is like, he probably hasn't been west of Parramatta for decades.

Buzz is a drunk but he's right here. Penrith stadium is a waste just to get votes

How do they get a second tenant? WSW should play games there, but would probably get lost once west of Parramatta. The NSW RU don’t want any teams west of Concord. There are no NRL teams within 35 km. They are penalised for being the heartland of RL in Sydney.
Why would you build a stadium near the new airport? There is no team there. The Wests Tigers don’t want to be there and it is a long way from Belmore.

You need to find a location wherein two teams could reasonably play. There is no way (even if Penrith were to keep their funding) that the government is going to fund new stadiums/upgrades for every team in Sydney. It is not going to be exactly like AFL in Melbourne where you have 9 sides playing in two stadiums but it has to go closer to that scenario than where we are at now

They have as much wet weather as everyone else in Sydney. The fans just keep turning up.
The home crowds have been steadily climbing for the past 10 years, and will grow more if they had better facilities and more undercover areas.

You guys averaged 12k in 2019, good for 13th best average. If you keep that 17k average when you are going shit, you might have a point.

So why do the Roosters need any stadium when they can’t attract a crowd when they are winning? Why do the Waratahs or Sydney FC need 40 k at anytime?
Why do Parramatta need 30k when they could even 2/3 fill the stadium tonight?
What I said was that because they are the heartland of RL they don’t support a second sport so that they can have a second tenant. Hence they are penalised because of this!

It doesn’t need to. It’s built two, it’s committed to a third. Only needs two more and all nine clubs are catered for.

Because those stadiums are in central locations which is accessible to the most amount of people. They not only service sport but they can also be used to bring in events. Thus they are going to be used throughout the year. This happens in every city: you put the infrastructure where it will be serviced by the most amount of people and something like the Roosters lack of popularity is purely coincidental: they are just fortunate to be where they are located.

Now Penrith and other areas adjacent to it will one day get a big stadium (probably shared with other tenants) to coincide with the infrastructure build up and the airport and overall the natural growth in that region (that is particularly the case if the 3 CBD idea of Sydney eventuates)

You can’t have two full time tenants at a RL ground as the surface won’t last. Look at Parramatta. They have had to return it about 3 times this year.

That’s not going to happen if the Penrith idea goes ahead. In any case, I don’t think say Cronulla and Manly need much injection so long as they don’t play all their games at Shark Park and Brookvale.

The government is not going to pay for nine stadiums. Forget it, as it’s not going to happen; hence you have to share stadiums.

Now certain fans can whinge about it as much as they want but you have to deal with the reality of the situation
