I apologise for calling you a Rooster and feel sorry for you being a Raider with Sticky in charge!
So because the people in Penrith are the rugby league heartland in Sydney, and there is no RU or A League in the area (despite being the 3rd biggest soccer association in NSW) they don’t deserve a stadium?
But the entitled ones in inner Sydney get a 40 k white elephant that none of the tenants will ever half fill, and Parramatta gets a perfectly good stadium rebuilt because the old one doesn’t suit the WSW, which again won’t get more than 2/3 full. That really makes good economic sense.

Hawkesbury is the worst, That area will benefit for some major events out west... Should the Stadium go ahead

It's 80 minutes from Richmond to Central by train.

70 minutes from Richmond to Penrith.

Unless they put on a good bus there is little benefit for the Hawkesbury in any development at Penrith. It's quicker to go Parra than Penrith.

Happy to see 4 clubs (including Panfas) get 200 mill each. Seems like a fairer solution.
That’s a terrible solution, we end up with stadiums tarted up and out of date in a few years Still drawing 14k. Better we get new stadiums fit for next 50 years and spend time doing it right,

Lol...no stadiums last for 50 years for starters. Time for you to stop trying to solve Sydney issues from the other side of the country and focus more on your beloved Pirates....oh sorry...I forgot they don't exist. Hearing the Sharks are planning on some tweaks to Shark Park in the event they get a home semi against an out of towner. Reckon that'd f**k with your mind for a bit.

No its not, it common sense. Why spend $500 mil on a stadium for only one team when that amount can be spread across 4 home grounds in locations where the fans will actually attend the games. New, central shiny stadiums away from their local areas will NOT entice fans to attend games over a longer distance, instead they will just watch the game on TV. Our game is TOO TV friendly. I wouldn't spend 90mins each way going to the SFS to watch my team play, pay $75 dollar a ticket for the privilege of a new stadium when I used to only spend 30 mins for less price. I'd rather instead stay at home and watch on TV for no expense with the same atmosphere that I would be in the bigger stadium! Sydney with 3 new big stadiums suits three, maybe four teams no more. The SFS at its current size is a waste of money!

Dumb and they should be made to play at the new stadium for the semis. It can easily be enforced by making it a mandate that all semis need to be played at venues that hold a minimum of 25K. That way shit holes like Brookie and Shark Park are not seen or heard at the best part of the season. Amateur hour it they are.

This is the part of the season that you want to showcase the sport in general. How does playing out of these shitty little parks make the game look ffs, especially when our main competitor is playing in real stadiums in front of minimum 30K and all the way up to 100K fans?

We look like the joke we are I suppose.
Then Penrith have to play at Accor with 73000 empty seats

You need to find a location wherein two teams could reasonably play. There is no way (even if Penrith were to keep their funding) that the government is going to fund new stadiums/upgrades for every team in Sydney. It is not going to be exactly like AFL in Melbourne where you have 9 sides playing in two stadiums but it has to go closer to that scenario than where we are at now
Exactly.

Putting funding into 4 or 5 stadiums (tops) is the ideal - could even be done with 3 - and new builds too, not just patch-up jobs on old venues.

The 2 big issues are WHERE do those 4 or 5 go, and getting "buy in" from the clubs that shared venues will deliver better facilities & better fan experience, and that transport upgrades will be part of the deal - even if it's just more gameday services to begin with.

We've also got to think of the situation 20, 30 years down the line when stadiums inevitably need refurbishment or tech upgrades - with 4 or 5 well built from scratch stadiums, that's easier done than spending MORE money to upgrade a lot of suburban venues like Leichardt.

As I said earlier I think there will be a stadium built on the second airport line. It will be a fast metro line and it will service the areas of Penrith right down to Campbelltown. It would at least make sense.

Sydney has got to get away from this idea of putting stadiums in suburbs that are only accessible to those that live there. You need to build stadiums that are on major public transport route wherein people from surrounding areas can easily access these grounds. It’s the only way, along with better scheduling, that you can actually improve crowd averages.
Yep - it really is that simple - put stadium at a public transport nexus, and it'll work.

The spend on public transport benefits far more people than just league fans, too.

Simple. Replace Cronulla with Newtown and this issue is solved (I’m joking btw)

In all honesty though what’s your solution? You could fund your own stadium? Split your games between Shark Park and somewhere else? Partner with the Dragons to get a shared stadium?

Valheru, I did say 60%.
Parramatta average home attendance - 17512, capacity 30000 = 59%
Penrith average home attendance - 17842, capacity 20000 = 89%
Roosters home attendance - 16238, capacity 42500 = 38%

When is Allianz ever going to draw more than 30000?, apart from the first game. Can you ever see the Roosters, Sydney FC or the Waratahs getting anywhere close to 20000?
when will Parramatta get close to capacity again?, other than for a finals match?

Waste of money. Each should have been 25k and the rest spent on the other grounds.
Parramatta average a tick under 20k at CommBank in 2022 and probably similar since 2019. This will be the first year playing a full season out of the new stadium.

Sticky is not a great coach but I will say that the club has gone a lot better in the last decade than we did prior, so I’ll give him that.

Look I understand you’re probably right that Penrith’s support is growing (good on you) but you have to understand what the government are probably thinking. They don’t give a c*** about rugby league really. If they are going to pay for stadiums or large infrastructure, as a ROI they want it to be used as often as possible by the most amount of people. With that in mind if the expenditure is hypothetically between a stadium being used 12 times (maybe a few other times by other things) and a stadium that will be used 30, 40 or 50 times a year and used most of the year, they are going to fund the second stadium every time.

Penrith and Cronulla (and possibly even Manly) might have to work out other alternatives if the government isn’t going to fork out the dough

roosters average 15,594 9 games with magic round crowd 43,000. Take away 43,000 from magic round for 8 games instead off 9 games the average is 12163. The true average. So somebody is lying about the Rorters crowd figures.

Ironically my opinion comes from our experience in perth where they have spent $150mill plus on hbf park and whilst it is hundred times better than it was it is nowhere near what I experienced at commbank. I now look at hbf park as way out of date already, just ten years after spending all that money. Tarting up inadequate Sydney grounds would be the same outcome. You onlynneed 5 stadiums and a different mentality For Sydney. you have three already done or committed to. Spend $500-600mill building two new 25k to cover manly and sharks , or a bit more for a shared 30k southern stadium for sharks and dragons, and Sydney is set for decades to come. Spend it doing up four current inadequate grounds and in ten years you’ll still have 4 inadequate grounds.

Then you’re not the fan they are looking for in the future. The three stadiums, if penrith goes ahead, can cater for 7 of the Sydney clubs with a change in mindset.

Might be just me but I go to the footy for the atmosphere...not to sit in a sparkling new stadium. If I want comfort I don't leave my lounge room.
It’s nice to stay dry though! Have a good view from everywhere, be able to get food and drink without missing half the game, have a big atmosphere with a big crowd, get the buzz of the big venue lights and sounds. There’s always nsw cup if you want to stand on a hill or sit in a poncho under an umbrella,.
