Yes. Trying to get the land for free

Cr Bratusa said the proposal is all about ensuring what is in the best interest for Penrith, confirming his support for the stadium to be built on the Paceway site.

“The opportunity exists for us to now secure a state-of-the-art stadium on the Paceway site. It is not about Panthers. This is not about Penrith rugby league. This is all about delivering other major codes to our footprint,” he said.

“We have an opportunity to bring entertainment out here. To bring concerts out here. To help many charities by staging major events in a new facility.”

The Counsellor does a better job selling it then PVL did
Wont someone think of the charities lol

I have nothing against the Sharks. They are doing good things in the junior development space but doesn’t this show a lack of ambition or that they don’t have a lot of support.

Could you imagine fumbleball doing this in Melbourne - let’s play a final at a stadium that can fit only 12k?
They are a blight on the game, 12k for a finals game is the height of their ambition? just lol.

Blight - a plant disease, typically one caused by fungi such as mildews, rusts, and smuts.

That sounds more like a normal living conditions for a house in England.

I now know why they call England/GB "Old Blighty"

12k capacity for a finals game is a disgrace

vlandys is wrong on this issue he’s caved in to rothfield and the sharks

it’s going to be embarrassing watching that game as a reflection of finals football in the nrl

I just don’t understand it from the Sharks perspective. If they go to a bigger stadium they will have more of their supporters watching it. In all honestly we should be looking at 25k minimum for finals games.

apart from the Sharks, Manly & Penrith all Sydney based teams will play their Finals matches at either CB,HB, or SFS. And imo unless those three teams are versing another Sydney club I can’t see why they can’t play week 1 of the finals at their home grounds. Sharks v Storm/Cowboys won’t sell out any of them bigger venues, in fact probably wont half fill the SFS. Let the teams get a week 1 sell out home ground advantage. The team and their supporters deserve the best chance they can get at winning the match.
If a team from a city that has a population of 5 million cannot draw 25k to a finals game in its home city then serious questions need to be asked about its viability and the worth of it holding an NRL licence while Australia's fourth and fifth largest markets have no representation.

The saddest indictment on our game is it refuses to address this issue. If we sit back and let small clubs from an over saturated region exist by providing them with a large annual grant with no strings attached then nothing will change. They'll just live off the grant and not try to increase their fanbase and revenue stream. It's why our game is stagnant at best and arguably going backwards.

I'm interested in seeing which clubs relocate to SFS and Parramatta Stadium. Those that have ambitions of growing into large clubs will do it. The ones who continue to play out of derelict suburban grounds will remain stagnant and eventually decline.

Fremantle sell out a 60k state of the art stadium for their finals game, sharks playing in a dump in front of 12k because they can’t draw many more that that, our game is so small at times lol.

I can see the paceway owners digging in and this not getting started till after the election, then we will see if labor bin it.
Nah the site will be acquired months before the election. Too late.

Even if the election was sooner a Labor gov ain’t gonna oppose it and get offside with a marginal electorate. They’ll just say it’s a previous government’s project that was committed to and they have to see it through just like Fed Labor did with the tax cuts and then pin the budget impact on the Libs to justify re-election.

Labor avoids the scorn of sports fans, the Fitzsimons zombies and also get a boost in the polls. Politics 101.

Paceway has been going for years, the club is small and useless.

They are arguing for building costs at the other end, They aren't entitled to that. It will get sorted

Looking forward to seeing the boys going around at Shark Park in the semi assuming they jag second spot. Atmosphere will be awesome. Think the maximum crowd is actually 11,500 atm though. Will have a beer for PR and PVL.

Hasn’t caved to the sharks. I honestly think this is just PVL making yet another “woe as me” public sentiment about the funding they were meant to receive for the suburban stadiums.

Sure you can claim the “integrity of the finals series” argument path if you want. But we don’t have a full fair draw anyway. So it’s somewhat a moot point.

IMO it’s a political move by PVL
