Can definitely see Saints playing a few at Allianz, at least until the eventual full time (if & when) move to the Gong eventuates. They were a regular feature at Moore Park during the glory days when the match of the round was played there and of course they take their Anzac clash there. Not sure about the other two as Manly are getting some money spent on their ground and not sure about the Sharks. I find the reno going on down there a little confusing tbh.

Match of the Day is on a Friday or Thursday night now, If it was on Sat it would make such things more viable

How does rugby league benefit from this new Allianz Stadium if it's just going to be a new home ground for the Roosters.

I think it benefits union more than rugby league.

We have been rorted by the NSW government yet again.

A rectangular 75k Accor Stadium would have been fantastic.

The SFS was fine the way it was and more than adequate for the Roosters.

The PR machine for the SCG Trust and Stadiums NSW (Rothfield and the Telecrap) are sickening.

Oh no, another sport also benefits from it so it must be bad for rugby league

The stands don’t look that steep either

it literally looks like the old stadium with all its flaws
That's the first thing I noticed. Lang Park and Parramatta Stadium have the perfect slope so the fans are on top of the action and the roofing is aesthetically sound for a rectangular stadium.

SFS is all over the place. The goalpost stands don't blend in with the main grandstands. The curved roofing is shit. It's a massive disappointment.

I didn’t mean that Saints literally take their match of the round game to Moore Park - more pointing out that Saints have history there when they did such a thing and for them to move some games to Allianz shouldn’t be seen as something out of the ordinary

Apart from teething issues, I enjoyed my night there and love the new digs. The rake is steeper than before, the space between rows are tighter as a result, though. Roof is way better than what we had before too. I also don’t mind standing and what I like about the new is you can stand on the concourse and still see the game whereas in the old, the last rows of the lower bowl where elevated above the concourse - blocking the view. As a shitty bronze member, my seats are behind the in goal, which I hate. So on a non-sellout day, if the seat Nazis move me on cos I’m seated in the wrong section, i‘ll just stand up somewhere along the concourse.

It's definitely more modern than the older one and sounds like it provides a better fan experience, but it could have been better for the amount they spent on it. Hopefully they can get the shithouses cleaned up and working.

It's a wonder they don’t have vending machines all over the grounds so they can cut back on staff. Snacks like chips, sandwiches, cheesecake, salads, chocolates, milk, ice cream and soft drinks would be easier to buy and it would take pressure off the tuckshop.

There is more than one "tuckshop" in the ground. There are multiple. The issue I had with what I posted early Saturday morning (link here - https://forums.leagueunlimited.com/threads/future-nrl-stadiums-part-ii.445841/post-15390924) is that the one selling the basics like burgers, pies, chips on the western concourse had long queues to it which, I suspect, was because people were waiting long times for the staff to replace stuff in the bay marines after they'd been cooked. I went to the mexican shop as there was no queue, but what I found was a 10+ minute wait, with eventually 8 other people than myself, who were all waiting for the kitchen to make some chicken burritos, and even then only 2 burritos came out after 10 minutes of waiting.

Why I mentioned the Merivale marshall asking about what were we waiting for, is that it was the same person all three times. No one had moved, we all said the same thing, so I don't know why you'd ask peoplke more than once whom you'd already asked. It just becomes annoying. Even more so that when you get something whichg has supposed to have just been cooked, you can tell when you pick it up tht its lukewarm.

PR mentioned there are food trucks outside Optus which would be a great idea here, too

They have numerous tuckshops around the grounds these days, but the food is always limited and overpriced. They should try to move away from hot food and focus more on packed stuff like sandwiches, salads, chips and other snacks. If they are going to have hot stuff it should be microwaveable packaged snacks so it can be removed from the freezer and doesn't take long to heat up.

sadly smith got scheduling back off nine but then the muppets sacked him and nine got it back It in the renegotiations, Nrl has no control to maximise stadium usage by scheduling the right matches at the right time.

That's the trouble. The food areas were designed for what the future average crowd will be, and caterers budget staff etc on the same crowd of around 15-20k
It can't cope with any more. Total waste of taxpayer money on an overextravagant SCG Trust playground.

Makes you wonder why when the kids in zambreros can knock out a burrito in under 2mins!

Good service is rare these days, a relic of a bygone age.

All this talk about modern stadiums...

Turn on Nine or Fox and look at the suburban tribalism at Leichhardt. Lush green hills and bright green jerseys in the crowd.
