Sharks CEO Dino has been raiding Bronson Xerri's stash...

I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure Shark Park was never promised any upgrade.

Given one side is totally compromised by buildings and one end by power lines, the other end with a small but relatively new stand, how much could you actually do to Shark Park? Replace the ET stand with a decent sized big stand but that's probably about it?

they should have razed the whole thing when they had the chance. That awful stand on the leagues club side hasn't changed for about 45 years.

A look around the grounds and you see members and corporates placed on the western side so they’re not facing the sun. Sharks owned land on both side of the field yet back in the day, chose to build the leagues club with grandstand built into it, on the eastern side, meaning members and guests now faced the sun. Would love to know why they made that choice. Watching games there as a kid, I always imagined that the members stand would eventually branch out north and south before eventually wrapping around the entire field. None of that is possible now. Not from the look of it now anyway. It just seems confusing. Would love to know if any Sharks fans on here have more details.

You'd have thought it would have been logical to put the corporate stand on that side so that the LC could supply the food and drink services to the boxes?

Sharks are betting on licenced venues being their saviour. Their 2021 Annual Report mentioned something about a potential amalgamation with a licenced Club in Coffs Harbour. They already have Sharks at Kareela and the Woolooware Leagues Club. Not much in the way of corporate support.

Yep

Only way you fix the ground is to encompass it fully and retire the hill.

Crowds only improve when you have undercover seating en masse. As a veteran season ticket holder in multiple areas of the ground, unless it was significantly redeveloped to support families who want to go to the game in relative comfort, you won't find them going.

Too cold, too wet, too often.

Redcliffe will experience the same problems at Dolphin Oval.

Another sell out for the white elephant on Saturday.

So in 5 fixtures we have 42k (opener), 38k (wallabies), 26k (matildas in a friendly on a tuesday), 40k (NRL week 1 finals) and a likely 38k for this week assuming it keeps a few more members away.
It’s kept Fitzsimons quiet, at least in the short term. I’m reserving judgment for when the novelty wears off. If we get around 20k+ for most club games, then the game has a good foundation to resume stadia talks.

They fix that bathroom door yet, the one with a massive pillar blocking the entry? Im sure the trust were extremely proud of the stadiums architect after that blunder...
Can't wait to see what that crew get upto in penrith next year

It’s going to be a huge asset which will benefit the roosters and south’s and also the nrl for finals

I really hope more Sydney clubs move their homes games vs roosters and south’s there

I was hugely on the fence about Souths eventually moving to Allianz... but given how easy it was on Sunday to get to/from the venue via the light rail to Kingsford, and how quickly the trams dispersed a massive crowd - I'm all on board now. Souths need to get there ASAP. I'm sure it'll happen once all the d**k measuring is over.

Keep Accor for SOO, prelims/GFs, Socceroos, etc.

Only issue is NSW Govt dont want Accor to sit empty. Not sure what Souths can do if they've signed a contract other than take it to court and argue they signed it under false pretenses as they were promised an upgrade to the venue at time of signing. From the clubs and NRL's POV it makes total sense and benefit for them to be playing at Alllianz.

Long term over the next decade, it will host women's football world cup, rugby world cup and football in the Brisbane Olympics.

Normally stadiums are built for one major event. Allianz stadium is booked in for three.

I believe they will be installing many Lazy Man Toilet Seats in the stands for season ticket holders and corporates. You can see the salesman in the below photo showing off the demo model -
