It’s a high price for the community to pay to hang some old photos on the wall

Last year, non-casino poker machines alone accounted for $11.4bn. Australians spend more on gambling than on any other activity considered addictive, and have the highest per-capita losses of anywhere in the world.

1% of the community are problem gamblers. Are you suggesting we shut down the whole industry for that. But that’s not your agenda. You hate Sydney clubs you whinging old turd.

On the addicts though, If Poker machines weren't legal the would go somewhere else to get their fix. Atleast it is regulated that is something
Addicts are 1% of all the community. The old pommy turd’s agenda is clear. Hates Sydney clubs

I was going to write that as well but thought may have actually offended some people. It's true though, they'd most likely blow the money on something as pointless.

Of course no mention of this from AFL Red

It's understood the clubs have told the AFL they'd like to sell their pokies, but don't have viable ways to replace the revenue. The new 20 year licenses can be sold at any time.

Richmond are believed to have approached the AFL to discuss how the league could subsidise the pokies exits. The AFL, led by chairman Richard Goyder, wants to be pokies-free.

Would you rather a brother/Uncle put their wages through a machine or owe the under world money which likely ends in injury or death if not paid?

If poker machines die off the land they sit on is valuable af

most can be sold for a mixed use high rise development with a significant portion of commercial

heck if the sharks had the guts they could’ve made a profit of 300 million plus rather than the 20 million plus they got from selling it to a developer

both dragons leagues clubs, easts, parra etc would cater to this

$50 memberships are all clubs need to survive according to some, It shows a mix of different revenues is needed

Land is slowing being sold off. Panthers still have land for the potential shopping Centre, Parra have all this stuff planned for Kellyville

Wrong figure.

What percentage of revenue is the 1% responsible for?

RSA exists in venues for alcohol consumption why not pokies?

It’s the correct figure as only 1% of the population has a gambling addiction. It’s the same with alcohol. You report the number of alcoholics not the % of drinks they consume. I’m not saying it’s not a problem by the way and setting restrictions on the amount a human can gamble in a venue is fine by me.

People can choose how to spend their money.
What about people who are unable to make a responsible choice because they are mentally ill?

Some people are born with a genetic predisposition to gamble. Gaming machines prey are placed in a dark room to amplify the lights and and sound they make. This captures the problem gambler's attention and makes it hard to know when to quit. It is done by design.

Since 2009 the Bulldogs have averaged more than 20k per home game 3 times, and have an average of 16,550 despite a particularly average run of form in the last decade or so. https://afltables.com/rl/crowds/canterbury.html

Souths have enjoyed enormous success in this timeframe and yet have a home average of 16,880 (only 300 more) https://afltables.com/rl/crowds/souths.html

@Storm80 so despite all your rhetoric they compete with Souths now.

Only someone who punches cones before breakfast would even entertain the idea that Canterbury are one of the Sydney clubs that should be relocated. Frankly, if it wasn't for Souths recent run of success, they weren't a patch on the Bulldogs in terms of support since the 80s.

You and @Get Rid of The Donkeys need to also find a better strain of weed if you think the Bulldogs are "unknown" outside Sydney and that their support is only drawn from their small suburb (and somehow the tiny suburb on Collingwood are the only team to have magically cracked the code of appealing to a larger market then there own LGA)
Their attendances are good compared to other Sydney teams, but they're not converting them into strong revenue.

You've seen the annual reports documenting how little they make from football operations.

Ticketing and corporate hospitality is not a strong source of revenue for the Bulldogs.

Money doesn't grow on trees and without it there is no professional sport.

Do we restrict everything in society because certain people don't have the mental capacity to deal with it?

If that's the case I can't really see the point in anyone progressing past a year 6 education
