But this wouldn’t increase the capacity as is desperately needed.
It will not deliver what is needed and wlill be outdated before it is completed.

Yes it would!! FFS!
Easily a 5000 increase, maybe more. 25-27 capacity stadium for Penrith for use 12 times a year is a f**king gift from the govt.
Just accept that you are lucky with this spend and what you are getting.
$300 million will give you a much better stadium than what you have now.
And, stop crying poor man.

NRL should have slapped a minimum capacity on all finals games when they changed the rules back. 15k at the very least, 20k would be better. If teams want to play out of tiny grounds that hold 13k they’ll know they won’t play finals there.
Its embarrassing fpr the game to have finals in such sht grounds, but hey ho thats Sydney RL for you.

Nice to see the negative nellies jointly kyboshing any reason for a new Stadium at Penrith. It’s part of the mentality of some rugby league fans to endlessly argue against the sport and its progress. Just like our little mate Jamberoo who constantly advocates against a fit for purpose stadium in Melbourne. There is always a reason to say no. It’s easy. Thinking expansively is too much for too many here.
Spot on. Who cares if a brand new stadium gets built at Penrith and nothing but Panthers games get played there. It's good for RL and that's all that matters

Yeah great for the game, until you desperately need a stadium upgrade, or some other significant investment from the taxpayer, but there's no political or public will to support it because millions and billions of dollars have been frivolously wasted slapping lipstick on pigs.

Especially so when there're serviceable alternatives that meet the team's needs 30mins away...

Leigh in the ESL has the same capacity, they are on track to host a final

Using the above theory. All the Manchester teams should play at United's or city's home grounds.

EPL sides aren't moved in Challenge Cup games despite low capacity
Eh? The avg crowd in ESL is around 8k. Apples and oranges.

Pretty easy for someone to say who just got one of the best league stadiums on earth built for their teams

Ever heard of football? The proper one not the aussie versions.
That’s not the sole reason

it’s a summer sport

promoting clubs from towns with a population of 80k is part of it

failing to take expansion properly is another

Leigh for Toronto is the best example (Leigh avg sl crowds 7k, Toronto average in the champ was higher

avg sl crowds are down 20 percent.
Cc final crowds down massively

nothing to do with soccer
