To the suprise of no one, it's crazy how many people in this thread deluded themselves that we were in with a chance.
Was hoping the success of the women’s tournament here would’ve forced FIFA to look for another excuse to not give it to Australia. Would’ve been interesting to see what they came out with.

The National Football Stadium was built by Populous (the same people who built Suncorp) and was always built so it could be extended easily to 25,000 seats.

The original plan was for the additional capacity to be added prior to the RLWC, however it was de-prioritised.

The NFS already has corporate facilities for 500 as well.

Not sure how they are fitting 20K into Sir John Guise Stadium. The venue has less seats and room to expand than the NFS. It was built by Fletchers Morobe Construction and wasn't designed for expansion as it is part of a greater sporting complex and NFS was set to be the primary Stadium for Port Moresby.

Guise is the oval/athletics stadium, it was used while NFS was being built from memory. Sir Hubert Murray stadium is used by PM Vipers and apparently holds 20k.

If NFS was build expandable to 25k then that’s probably the answer to the stadium question though.

What would be the protocols for serious injuries suffered in PNG?

Can't imagine the local medical facilities would match up to what's down the road from current NRL stadiums.
I’m sure there’s a private international hospital in Port Moresby just like there’s probably private international schools for all the foreign diplomats and international workers in various fields of industries in the region.

Judging by the sheer volume of PNG nationals at Cairns Base Hospital every day, I'd say no there isn't.

Or it's f**king tiny and caters to a tiny amount of people

That would be what part of the $600m is for, Need to ensure anyone involved gets decent medical care

Heres an idea spend the $600mill building a decent hospital and then EVERYONE benefits, not just some millionaire sportsmen being evac'd to Australia. .

Cairns is the location for this reason, gus gould mentioned he had a chopper ready to go, a few years back when the panthers had a trial game there, incase there was a significant injury, to
"get to the choppa"

And when they need nurses?

Education upgrades are needed too and will come along with a new floor or 2 at a hospital.

then use some of the $600mill to fund QUT to open a campus there to train them, you know use the money for something useful to the community.

Cairns to Port Moresby is 840km.

So either your drug addled brain is inventing things or Phil Gould is the world's biggest bullshit artist
