‘Multi purpose’ stadiums is like going in halves with aqua man for an underwater mansion with an air bubble closet.
Basically the sport with the smaller field always gets arseholed. Fine for AFL/Cricket, shit for whatever is being played on the rectangle painted in the middle.
The NZ multipurpose grounds aren’t as bad because at least they shrink the cricket outfield a bit as a compromise but its still a raw deal for the rectangular codes even then

What would be the protocols for serious injuries suffered in PNG?

Can't imagine the local medical facilities would match up to what's down the road from current NRL stadiums.

Port Moresby is the seat of government and where pretty much the whole business sector is headquartered - there would be decent medical facilities available for those who can afford them.

Yeah but imagine something like a seriously broken leg happens - I don’t care how good the private hospitals are in PNG, I don’t think I’d want to have surgery there, or be stuck there while I recover.

I imagine they’d get flown back to Aus as soon as practical. But it wouldn’t be anything the mining industry doesn’t already have contingencies for.

Really doesn’t need a roof either. Port Moresby is the driest place in PNG and the bulk of the rain falls from December to March so outside of the first few rounds it’s unlikely to be needed.

Give it actual seats not wooden benches and a decent little ground
Between this and the Santos stadium I’m sure they could spruce one up to 20k+ for a start. It’s PNG I’m sure fans there don’t expect their own Allianz.

Hubert Murray is already 20K. It’s probably pretty much ready to go as is though an extra 5-10K seats would doubtless be readily utilised.

Brad Walter who works in the nrl media department seems confident it won’t be this stadium but santos stadium

Needs some work but nothing that couldn’t be done before 2027 if they get a spot. Either that or expand the Santos stadium which has better existing facilities.
