The inability of the out of touch geriatrics whom control this sport to take off their rose tinted glasses for a second and get over their nostalgia for the mid-late 20th century is what happened to the second Brisbane side playing full time out of Suncorp. The fact that the Dolphins refused to play all their games at Suncorp should have been enough to rule them out.
People aren't saying that the third Brisbane team should have to play out of Suncorp to compensate for the Dolphins.
What they're saying is that we know from our experiences in Sydney that having lots of little clubs playing out of single tenant venues spread across the disparate parts of the city is a really dumb way to organise a football league, and that it'd be insane to repeat those mistakes in Brisbane given that we now know that.
Besides, a third team in Brisbane shouldn't be based in Ipswich anyway. If it happens it should be centrally located on the south side of river because that's the region of the city closest to the pre-existing infrastructure and with the heaviest population density that isn't represented in the NRL. That's where the second side should have been located, and everybody with a functioning frontal lobe knows it.
