Redcliffe is 40km from Suncorp.

Ipswich is 40km from Suncorp.

It's also a crazy Sydney thing, to think they only people who live in one or two suburbs will support a team. RL fans travel from all around Brisbane, so a central location near a major transport hub is the best.

Your Sydney centric thinking doesn't apply here
I don't think I've ever claimed that only people in Redcliffe or Ipswich will support the Dolphins or Jets.

As far as Sydney centric goes... never really spent much time there. Certainly never lived there

No but a South Brisbane Jets/Firehawks that represents Ipswich as well as the whole south of the river should. Do we really want another outer suburban club in the comp? I cant see Qlnd govt forking out $3-400mill for another stadium can you?
Yes, in fact there was a stadium with Govt backing proposed during the time of the Jets last bid.

And don't forget we are talking 2032 here for Ipswich NRL entry, not 2024. There will be further population growth and lots of Olympic money between now and then.

Whats less likely by then is Broncos, Dolphins, Jets, Reds & Roar all playing at Suncorp.

You don't build a stadium for a team that doesn't exist. And the Reds and Roar may not see out this decade

You've clearly not spent any time in Brisbane either

It wasnt proposed lol, it was a throw away wish by the bid team and council that required full state funding, of which there was no commitment.

The olympic venues have been decided and there is no need to spend $3-400mill on a rectangular stadium in Ipswich for any olympic event.

Decided to have a drive

Corridor Still has a lot of growing to do. Population is still very much only along the main highway.

More growth occurring towards Gold Coast, which means Gold Coast Stadium should be based around Coomera
Gold Coast has a modern stadium, it ain’t getting another one for decades

What exactly is the problem playing in a ground that's to big? Is it because the "atmosphere" is poor? Not really the taxpayers concern is it?

It's such a Sydney thing -"we need to build a stadium to accommodate small crowds".

The QLD govt ain't building it, and neither are the Feds.

Only because a bald (alleged) journalist wouldn’t let us build one for big crowds which is probably also a Sydney thing.

Yes, council were prepared to chip in, who knows ehat the state govt would have done.

The Olympic funding is not finalised as per the new Premier's comments.

You keep putting words in my mouth. No one suggested a stadium gets built for a team that doesn't exist. Any build would happen after a licence is granted.

With regards to the Reds and Roar, that is pure speculation and wouldn't come into stadium planning if we were projecting infrastructure projects for the 2032 Olympics and beyond in 2023.

I don't know what your problem is mate. I am sitting in Brisbane, where I live, right now writing to you. There's no reason why the city wouldn't need a second major stadium (mid size) come 2032 given the city's growth especially if another NRL side enters the market alongside all the other professional sporting teams.

The Premier is clearly looking to slash funds though, not fund a single tenant stadium in the boondocks.

It's clear the Gabba redevelopment is going to be seriously scaled back, and it even looks like the Tas stadium is in serious doubt also

3 NRL teams can easily share Lang Park though.

It's clear the other minor codes are seeking a home at existing smaller facilities now.

10 AFL teams share 2 stadiums in Melbourne with no issues (and have a Rugby team, and 3 Aleague teams also as tenants for certain games)

IF (big IF) you were going to do it, the location should be centrally located, not in the boondocks

It is also wear and tear, over usage and so on. You can't have 8 professional teams playing out of a single stadium

Again where do the 2 rectangle sports in the olympics play?

The A-LEAGUE plays in summer, so that's a non issue, as I said they will be downsizing to smaller existing facilities as their crowds dwindle (Ballymoore)

The recentangular sports will play at Townsville, Robina and Lang Park.

Yep definitely could be the case and hi 5 if the gabba is scaled back and Tassie is cancelled.

There is one problem that remains, which doesn't need to be solved right now but will need addressing in the future. Broncos, Dolphins, Jets (potentially), Reds, Roar all use one stadium and Suncorp has an event cap so something will have to give at some stage in the future and SEQ will have to develop a stadium strategy which will most likely involve a mid sized stadium. Sure, it doesn't have to be at Ipswich or Redcliffe but there will need to be one.
