Nib stadium has an English style terrace at one end, it's always full for games. I'd like to have seen them extend the shed end full size at last refurb

A mate and I have already committed to Origin in Perth in 2019, can't wait, very keen to see the new stadium with a view to a WA side joining the NATIONA RL.

Crossed my mind to go over for the doubleheader but wouldn't get it past the Leader of the Opposition unfortunately.

We've never really been big on "SRO" areas in Sydney. In fact my late Father used to say if you stood up on areas like the old hill at the SCG during a rugby league game, if you didn't sit down and obstructed other people's views, you would quite literally get pelted with bottles and rubbish until you did or the police took the standee away. Pretty much been a crowd control issue. With things like Hillsborough and Heysel in Europe in the mid-1980s, that saw the push to all seater stadiums occur in many main stream sports.
At the MCG and Etihad they are at the back of the lower level seating, underneath the second level. You can have a couple of rows. Zero risk of a crush. Would be a winner.

Me too.
Yet, there is that "shipping container" looking corporate shambles at that end. Such a shame.

A bit off topic, but look at Russia's solution to a stadium not having enough capacity to host a WC game.

Standing room is coming to the new Parra stadium though. Although it’ll be converted to seating for the NRL season.

I like the idea of standing room length of the field bars. I think it’d be a great way to sell a different type of game day experience.

The only reason the new Parra Stadium is getting standing room areas is because the Wanderers requested it for the Red and Black Bloc as they tend to standing during the whole match.

As I said up thread, conventional thinking has been it is easier in terms of crowd control if you have people in individual seats.

That's exactly right.
All seaters have been proven to be easier for crowd better control.
It was a major reason why Parra stadium's hill's were converted to all seaters with the hill areas behind the seats blocked by advertising hoardings so nobody could stand there. This happened after some unsavoury games against the Bulldogs in the early 2000's - way before the Wanderers came in.
Since then, better crowd control design has come forward, hence why the new Western Sydney Stadium will have some bays of safe standing for the Wanderers RBB which, as you correctly say, will convert to seating for Eels matches.

Yeah I get why, but it also may change the culture. When others see it, it could catch on.

Did the same in Brazil I think.

The issue is in a tinpot third world autocracy you can do that on the cheap and hope the scaffold doesn't collapse with 50 million watching on TV.

Would struggle with WHS here.

Would it be within the realms of possibility that the Brumbies could come to the party - if not as a partner, at least as a co-tennant?

Not as a partner no, the Brumbies themselves are pretty broke, so the Raiders would have to deal with the Tuggeranong Vikings (who basically fund the Brumbies existence at this point), and if the Vikings were interested they'd probably just do it themselves or at the very least would want to do it on land they own near one of their clubs (probably at Viking park in Erindale), so any talks probably wouldn't work out.

But obviously you'd want to try and sign them as a tenant is if you owned the stadium though.

Good stuff vee, sure you'll have a great time. Whilst perth stadium is oval and won't be great for being close to action it does look very cool and will be state of the art inside so should be a good experience, especially if we can get 65k in it. Close to crown casino complex as well to kick onto after the game.

But if they do announce Allianz is going first, without an increase in the overall stadium budget, well then ANZ is stuffed.

The budget for Allianz will blow out for sure, just as the budget for parramatta will. Leaving a second rate solution for ANZ.

Admittedly it's been a while since I've been in Canberra, but surely Northbourne Oval's location is infinitely more attractive to the Brumbies than Viking Park down in Wanniassa which, location-wise, probably isn't all that much of an upgrade on Bruce Stadium.

Return to Seiffort
15000 at Seifert in the old days & it was a bugger to get out of Queanbeyan
there was & still is no parking , & going back there a few weeks back for the local GF , the old boxes at the back of the stands are falling to bits
no chance its fit for anything other then a trial or 2 in its present state & even with a massive upgrade
its too far away & not suitable.

toffballers would rather burn in hell then pay mun.g.os to play anywhere
its just their mindset. I think its pie in the sky stuff them or even the Raiders building their own stadium
its just too big an investment with not enough return. If it cost 250 Million plus to build even a stripped down stadium with a roof similar to the one in Dundedin , & the Raiders are the only sports tennent with maybe a few soccer games & a few big concerts held there plus naming rights sponsors etc
they'd still never get a return quickly enough . The compounding Interest on the loan itself would be 25 million a year. Better off letting the govt take the liability & build it.
Plus you'd never get it past the residents living near norhtbourne anyway. that'd be a bun fight of epic proportions.

my plan is this
purchase the land around the present stadium at Bruce off behind the north eastern end & purchase the stadium itself too , there is enough room to build a new roofed venue where I have indicated & it can be built while the present venue is used. Then bulldoze the old venue once the other is completed & sell the land off to developers for residential space which would get the govt tens of millions in development land taxes etc
fix up access to the roads around Bruce, Haydon , Ginninderra & with direct access to the GDE & load the area up with parking facilities all around the new venue on the eastern side.

the Govt has an extra 200 Mill or so in the kitty that it budgeted for , but doesn't have to pay for in the mr fluffy clean up so really , this could get under way much quicker then anticipated

lets do it Andy
lets get this shit happening
