As a Phins member, no thanks. RL, RU and Soccer need to stay steadfast on Suncorp only and put the pressure on for upgrades. If Dolphins, Wallabies, Socceroos, Magic Rd start breaking ranks, it's all over. It will be multi purpose all the way from then on

7.5k extra seats shouldn’t be enough difference for rectangular sports to move games there.

Any Suncorp upgrade will need a big push from the NRL with the help of Union and Soccer. Unfortunately for all the strengths of the current management lobbying for stadiums seems to be an afterthought at best.

If the Broncos can get to the stage where they sell out all their games each year that will definitely help, they sold out about 6 last year so not unreasonable to think they could be selling out every week by the 2030s.

Only 30k at the Gabba today. They are going to look silly in a 60k stadium. 45k would have been enough.
The fumblefans are blaming the Gabba for the crowd saying it’s falling apart and that’s keeping people away and they’ll get over 40k average crowds at Victoria Park

Putting aside all the noise, simple logistics and resources suggest that Lang Park/Suncorp will go untouched for rest of this Decade.

Even if there was the public funding for it, there won't be much political will and no physical resources to make it happen.

Which ever way you want to look at it, this is a bad outcome for Rugby League.

Rugby league isn't in the Olympics. Suncorp is in good enough order to host the rectangular sports that need a stadium of that size.

Let's not beat around the bush. The last Queensland government came up with the ridiculous idea of hosting the opening ceremony @ suncorp and using a temporary venue for athletics as a desperate attempt to show they were fiscally responsible before an election.

A new oval stadium was always going to happen.

yeah …it’s still a waste of money though that they will be continuing to live with a long time after the Olympics….
We are a cricket loving nation. Every major city has a major cricket ground. To keep up they have to replace the gabba or major games will not be played in Brisbane. Ashes and tests against India introduce major $$$$ into the economy. Throw in world cup games.

The fact that another game plays on Ovals is unfortunate.

one test cricket game a year won’t do much to make the ground successful…I also think they will struggle to fill it even then ., how often is Australia hosting the World Cup? They went from 1992 to 2015 without hosting it previously

T20 2021, it will be back in 2028.
50 over not sure.

Indian fans travel from overseas, US, UK etc for tests, world cups, not just from within Australia.
