No other clubs have been able to grow their crowds like those that have 21st century stadiums. Look at the figures.

Sure, some people still like the nostalgia of footy parks, but it’s a minority.

I suggest from a tv point of view a packed local ground engeders a better atmosphere and regard for the game than a half full stadium. This is not to say Im no fan of a stadium. It needs to be carefully selected and used commensurate with whom a club is playing and when they play. For instance Balmain (sorry W.Tigers)v Manly at Leichardt or Brookvale will have a better look and atmosphere compared to these clubs playing at the Olympic stadium. Although Easts v Souths in 2013 drew almost 60000 on a Friday night at the Olympic stadium. So its much about carefully selecting the appropriate ground for the appropriate game. It's good our code still has that option and flexibility especially in the difficult to get around city of Sydney.

How long until one of the residents in the new sharks development complains about the noise and lights from the footy?

A lot of popular inner city areas have been closed down or had curfews put in place, be pretty funny if this ended up the case in Cronulla.

I'd say their would be a caveat in place understanding the local area events and acknowledging this fact!? Would certainly think that a wise thing to with a lease for such an area?

I agree

If it absolutely warrants a stadium
Eg a final or sold out derby then yes
But to play every game out of one looks f**ked
It is f**ked
Always has been f**ked
And always will be and looked f**ked

It does nothing for crowds numbers at all.
Only a complete idiot cannot see this.

Those train yards behind the stadium, there’s still no word in what that area will be used for. I’m hoping a little brewery/watering holes to be a top priority.

Well simply they don't in Canberra.GWS must have stolen them LOL.

LOL Sydney has 9 NRL clubs,2 AFL clubs ,2 Soccer clubs and 1 union club.Your competition in Canbraaaa?? You really have difficulty with maths.

Yeah a tiny insular club on G/F day 2016 had nearly 70,000 Sharks' supporters off all persuasions, rusted on,bandwaggoners, and casuals ,many coming from afar.A tiny insular club that in 2015 had 10,610 members,in 2017 15,556,and who knows the final tally in 2018.

The tiny insular club that is involved in a $750m development ,that will help ensure it long term, that owns its ground. That scored one of the bigger Cof E grants from the State Govt, yeah that one.

Your bitterness would shine through a Canberra fog.

wow
The raiders had about 10500 in 2015 too
& now we have nearly double that , &... we didn't win a premiership
but ya know , yeah
hey you're right
I mean

based on the Sharks membership numbers , & your einstein analysis of why the Raiders don't have double their tally
Im outraged as to why Brisbane doesn't have 180,000 members ??

LOL
just LOL

Canberra has twice the population of the Shire, where the Sharks are domiciled sheesh.Where did I suggest it was twice Sydney's.

Lol, if you're relying on the population of the Shire for you fan-base going forward then the Sharks should just pack it in now...

BTW I have no interest in going off on tangents about stadiums upgrades (that the Sharks will never be able to afford and will never get government funding for anyway) and the such, it was clear from my post that I was talking about potential growth of your crowds within your current stadium, and according to you lot there basically isn't any room for growth.

we come from a territory in case you hadn't heard
Bullshit
Nobody has ever called you Territorians .

If you have been calling yourself that then you are wrong about that as well.

Here are a few dictionary meanings of the word.

Yeah we know, twice the population, the rest must be interested in watching Parliament or chasing Brumbies around the ranges. But you have an all seater stadium, little competitive opposition.
In fact Brisbane being a rl city ,should be packing Suncorp regularly.
The only outrage you should have ,is directing it toward your team's choking ability.
We got a live one.

Can the mods please do something about the RD-Carch cripple fight?

It's been the majority of posts over the last 5 pages now.

Well
If he’d work out that there is a place in rugby league for stadiums and great suburban grounds then I wouldn’t need to continue correcting him.

Sorry to disappoint .I'm not.I brought up the population issue as a pointer to potential further membership and crowd increases.
It is going forward. If membership is maintaining a constant increase, sponsorship ditto.
Hello,Sharks' fans do also actually live outside the Shire in numbers.I sit next to a couple from Sydney's far west.
With due respect ,you have NFI whether the Sharks will or will not be able to afford stadium upgrades in the future.
Really?.The club received $8.5 m in NSW State Govt grants for a Cof E.They received Federal Govt funding to build the Southern Stand, but do go on.Thus ,I would not emphatically state they will never get Govt funding ,nor never be able to afford stadiums.

The size of the stadium currently holds about 19,000 comfortably. There is room for grandstand rebuilding to increase patronage
