Raiderdave, Tiapan and Carcharias - any chance you could just message each other as it’s just getting embarrassing for the 3 of you.

Mods - can you give these guys a time out please?
Yeah sorry mate
Sorry we took pages 230 odd etc of part 2 of a thread about a new stadium during (the dead arse middle of the off season) off topic.

I profoundly apologise.

Wow the swim was good.
Glad I live where I do.

Townsvilles new stadium looks exciting.
Any updates after lunch?

Yeah, its still hot and there’s a chance of a little rain about in the arvo.

The evening update will be posted at 6pm, ‘brought to you by Cowboys Leagues club, the community club that you love the most, come for the $10 Parmi on monday night!!! Become a member today!!’

I find it interesting that for all the debate about suburban grounds a lot of Canberran’s (I’ve never referred to myself as a territorian) think that the Raiders experience was better at Sieffert Oval.

As a kid, the suburban grounds offer so much more.

As an adult sure the stadium is better but if you’ve got a young family then it costs a fortune to keep them entertained as they can’t run around.

And my kids got the ACT Touch raiders membership too.

The whole ‘costs a fortune’ thing I have a giggle at. I just spent 4 weeks in the states and went to 3 NFL games.

Game one in Tampa, amazing seats behind the Bucs bench $250 US a seat

Game 2 in Charlotte, top tier halfway up, pretty good view except the loud buzz from the light towers above us was insanely loud $150US a seat

Game 3 in Charlotte, down low on the 10 yard line least favourite seats as once play went to halfway and beyond you had to look at the big screen $150 (should have paid about $200US but the family friend cut me a deal)

We dont pay anywhere near these sort of prices. Beers were $10 a pop, food prices were over the top. Yanks on average dont earn anywhere near the wages we get here.

I honestly think people shouldn’t complain about the price of going to an NRL game over here, our prices are pretty good compared to some other sports and other sources of entertainment.

Yeah well plenty of us .. territorians ... believe Seiffert is an utter shithole
&
it is , the ends are oval shaped & a fair way from the deadball line at either end
having to stand in front of the main grand stand on grass
sit on the other side & stand behind the hill
I dunno when the last time was you went to Canberra Stadium & a Raiders game but your eyes must be stuck on
Theres plenty for kids to do , jumping castles at either end as well as areas for them to run wild near the forecourt on the western side
Ive been taking my kids to Canberra stadium since the late 90's & there was / is always plenty for them to do & never had to fork out a extra cent for them other then their tickets & food.

the best decision the Raiders ever made was to abandon Seiffert oval.

‘Your stadium update brought to you by Mad Cow Townsville. When your night needs some 80’s tunes and bar brawls, Mad Cow Townsville has it all!! 6pm Stadium update for Jan 1st 2017, zero to report this afternoon other than 2 parkies got in a fight near the stadium today, they were arguing about who had a better city, looks like the bum from Cronulla won out over his Canberra rival........’

really the only sport in most US cities tho
& with a few exceptions , most are one team cities too with more then a million potential fans at their disposal plus just 8 home games , Imagine Sydney with 1 team & it was pretty much the only sport ...worse still..
Melbourne !!
You'd easily find 60 to 70K prepared to pay those prices in those cities , in reverse .. double , triple or even quadruple the number of teams in those US cities & those prices would disappear
the saturation of sports & teams in our big cities as well as live TV coverage help keep ticket prices down , but yeah , we still whinge

Yeah, but then you have places like Green Bay. The population of that town is 110k and the weather makes Canberra look like Florida. If there was a game there tomorrow at 1pm local time, it would be -17c and it would still sell out (80k ish capacity). A lot of cities have hockey and basketball as well this time of year.

Nah. The Green Bay metro area is more like 300k.
It also directly borders the fox cities metro area which is another 200k+ extending from about 20-50mins drive from Lambeau.
Realistically though, the pack have the entire state of Wisconsin (5 to 6 mil ) as their catchment and EVERYONE follows them obsessively.
They are a profoundly well supported team and trying to draw a comparison to the Raiders or any team in Aussie sport is a bit silly.

You're right about 1 thing though; Wisconsin is f**king cold.

Whoa, you need to go back and re-read what I typed mate.

The only comparison to Canberra I made was the weather having nothing on GB. And I never made any other comparison to Australian teams, only that we shouldn’t be complaining about NRL prices compared to the yanks.

I think you’ve looked way too deep into my posts hey.

Google is saying 2 hour drive from Milwaukee. 3.5hrs by train.
ok yeah
its like townsville , but with most of SE QLD only a few hours away & .. no other football team in the region
the Cows would fill a 50K stadium every week under those conditions
