eh
48K at the SCG
52K at Suncorp
its much of a muchness , & we put up with the ground hosting GF's for 79 years
1 more aint gunna kill us if it means these rebuilds get done.
This will be happening in 2019, not 1979 and RL fans deserve their most important game of the year played on a rectangle field, even if it is played in Brisbane.

people need to get on & flood the comments section with pro comments then , the utter ignorance of the morons posting needs to be counter balanced

the stadiums are fine are they ?
these fools have probably never set foot inside either venue LOL

can't we just fix em up a bit ?
yeah , spend 500 Million doing that now , & in 15-20 years allianz will fall down & the current bill will be double

the SCG was also half hill in 1979
its a far better all seater stadium now

its not ideal
but again , we can put up with it for one year if it means the job gets done

Victorians don't care their government will spend $300 million on a Stadium that they don't even own
Why would Stadium users care who owns the stadium? When they are attending they care about the fan experience. Who owns it would not enter their mind whilst watching the footy/BBL/concert. Improvements are needed, but it won’t be anywhere close to what the AFL has proposed. They will end up spending $50m on improving the public spaces outside the ground, access, etc as the stadium itself is fine. Much more modern than ANZ despite being built around the same time.

Taxpayers should care who owns it. Why should they fund the redevelopment of an asset wholly owned by the AFL who run it for profit? It is a $300m taxpayer funded gift, that only acts to make the stadium more appealing, to entice more people & events to pay to use it and to increase the profits of the stadium owners, the AFL. Taxpayers get zero return on their investment and the AFL will still charge them to use & attend the stadium. The whole thing is just beyond ridiculous.

This was a condition from the state government for the $2B stadium upgrade that the GF does not leave Sydney, yeah the NRL are really screwing over NRL fans by getting a deal that see 3 new rectangular stadiums in Sydney.

Doesnt change the fact that due to this shit deal, we also have to deal with the shit that is the SCG which means more money for the SCG trust.

Despite having the new Bradman and Noble stands with great food and bar facilities most of the SCG is still second class, the O’Rielly stand is third world standard, totally outdated and inadequate, the Brewongle and Churchill stand aren’t far behind, not good enough to host a NRL Grand Final.

Neither was the TV Rights.
Just Shit for the fans who now have to deal with Thursday Derbies.
It's not shit for fans either, they get 3 new stadiums out of having one GF at the SCG. Also most of the fans that attend the SCG GF wouldn't get to attend if it was in another state.

Yes and as you say IF the promised venues are built.
At this point in time the NRL has an agreement with the government that the stadiums will be torn down and be rebuilt in return for the GF remaining in Sydney. I they deal is broken by the government then the NRL should sell the GF to the highest bidder and not accept any bids from the NSW government.
