The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

The new buildings are too close to the ground. If you wanted to build a length of the field eastern stand in the future, that’s going to make it pretty difficult.

Those current seats are not steep at all.
They could go the parra stadium way.
The other side could be easily redone.

I don’t think it needs a billion empty seats anyway.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but further development at Shark Park has been approved.

This includes

  • More retail space, including an upgraded Sharks Leagues Club with large north-facing terrace.
  • A 75-room hotel.
  • A sports Centre of Excellence adjoining the Andrew Ettingshausen Stand within Southern Cross Group Stadium.
  • An extra 400 car parking spaces and 77 bicycle parking spaces, and revised landscape designs.
I’ve heard woolies is moving in to the retail section.

For those of you who don’t know the place.
The terrace they are building will over look Botany Bay up towards the city.
We’re talking million dollar water views .
It’ll be awesome just to go to for a beer.

It is a massive boost for the clubs financial situation.

I am thinking the stadium will get a huge upgrade itself in the future.

The hotel at the ground will be great for fans from inter state or out of town.

I hope the sharks get an awesome new boutique stadium out of it

I used to think the sharks were the most likely Sydney team to fall over or relocate, but it’s pretty clear they’ve secured their future.

Without wanting to start a war on it, I’d consider Manly or the Tigers the next most likely.

This concept drawing jumped out at me.

If they do it like that it’s really going to restrict the ability to build a new eastern stand in the future.

Is there scope to move the pitch if the other side stand is taken down and rebuilt? If not they’ve effectively sacrificed a decent stand ever being built on that side of the ground. Still it will at least help cover their losses I suppose. Will the coffee ques be shorter now?

there is , theres playing fields to the west of the western stand , just behind them
but the sharks don't own them , they'd be council land

Someone might correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought those playing fields on the western side of Shark Park were now all filled with apartments.

There’s room between it and the new apartments, but..

Behind the western stand there’s a creek, which is heavily covered by mangroves. I doubt it could be built upon.

I’m really surprised they’d limit their future options for an eastern stand, particularly as there’s a chance it could become a multi tenant venue with a new Aleague side.

Gold Coast Titans offered $1 for stadium by Mayor Tom Tate

Jeremy Pierce, The Courier-Mail
April 29, 2018 12:00am

GOLD Coast Mayor Tom Tate has offered to buy the home ground of the Titans NRL club for $1 as Queensland’s stadium stoush continues.

Robina’s Cbus Super Stadium is at the centre of a saga surrounding exorbitant hiring costs for some of the region’s biggest sporting venues.

The Sunday Mail and The Courier-Mail have revealed expensive hiring fees through Stadiums Queensland have pushed some clubs, including the Titans and the AFL’s Suns, to the wall, while similar-sized venues interstate are substantially cheaper.

Instead of committing to high-priced, long-term deals, the Titans renegotiate hiring costs on a short-term basis costing about $110,000 a game.

The latest agreement expired after last night’s NRL clash with the Cronulla Sharks, with the Titans seriously considering taking home games to other venues.

Now, Councillor Tate has upped the ante by offering to take over the running of the stadium from the State Government for the grand total of $1.

Councillor Tate first considered the idea three years ago and this week said he would extend the offer in a bid to give the Titans and other tenants a better deal than the one they get from Stadiums Queensland.

The council spent $10 million buying the site in 2006 only to hand it over to the State Government, but with control of many Commonwealth Games venues now being returned to the city, Councillor Tate said it was the perfect time to follow suit with Cbus Super Stadium.

“My offer of $1 still stands,” he said. “If Stadiums Queensland was a private company, it’d be broke by now.

“The venue is heavily under-utilised right now so it makes sense to work with potential users to meet the market.

“It’s the same formula any savvy business adopts – that is, adjust your price to meet the market, look after the client, and long-term you’ll attract repeat business from that client and grow your base.’’

A Queensland Government spokeswoman yesterday said a special taskforce appointed to investigate the situation would “look at all the options”.

“We’re open to discussion if they want to manage Robina Stadium,” she said.

“The underlying cost pressures apply no matter who manages the stadium.’’

Titans chief executive Graham Annesley said the club just wanted certainty.

“We’re as anxious as anyone to get this matter resolved once and for all so we’re not constantly dealing with it every few weeks,” he said.

I’m surprised you’ve come to that conclusion after looking at one drawing .
There is loads of room to put new seating at both ends and where the current peter burns stand is.
There is a huge walkway between that stadium and the seating on the fence.
They’re not going to have the bar at the eastern end looking over the feild
The entire existing hill could be used for seating.

Pitch?
It’s called a feild.
..and when they see you coming they’ll get a cold coffee just for you.

That’s why when I originally commented on it I said * IF * the artists impression is accurate.

And I was always speaking only about a stand on the eastern side being restricted, obviously there’s other options. But it being a rugby league ground the east & west sides make the most sense for seating options.
