The leagues club is not a backer of the club at all?
really ?
so they don't get money from the Balmain leagues ( it doesn't exist anymore ) or Wests either
no wonder they're constantly broke
surely they're worth something to Wests leagues playing next to their facility , If they aren't using that as leverage then they're dumb

No Wests Campbelltown are not a backer of the club which is what you were talking about. Balmain Leagues club still exists, the club is 75% owned by Wests Ashfield and 25% by Balmain. Wests Campbelltown is a separate entity and withdrew all funding in 2013, they play no role and have no influence on the club.

fair enough , f**k Campbelltown then

I honestly thought Wests Campbo were chipping in, shows how much I know.

Balmain leagues is now at Lawn Bowls club somewhere in Balmain yeah?

Absolute f**king disgrace what has happened with their old venue. I went there a few times in the late 90’s early 2k’s and always had a good time there talking to the locals about footy after a NQ/Wests game.

They currently have 2 very small clubs, one at five dock and at Flemington. There was a new development application put in last week that has a fair chance of getting up, it is a much more modest application with the leagues club as the centrepiece. The NSW state government are also making noises about compulsory acquiring the site for an excavation site for the 2nd harbour tunnel, so I would guess the local council would be in the right frame of mind to get something started on the site to prevent the government turning it into a big hole in the ground.

Campbelltown used to have a 25% share with Wests Ashfield having 25% and Balmain having 50%, Campbelltown pulled out in 2013 giving Ashfield 50% share in the club. Ashfield gained another 25% when they repaid Balmain's loan to the NRL in return for the shares.

So at this point in time Ashfield owns 75% of the club with Balmain having the other 25%, Balmain however does have the option of buying back the other 25% if they can become financially viable.

Campbelltown have no say in the running of the club. I am from the Balmain side of the venture but I must say Wests Ashfield have been amazing throughout this process and effectively saved Balmain from extinction, they bought the 25% from Balmain by repaying a $8m loan to the NRL. When you look at the recent sale of the Warriors, they paid well above market value but did so to save their joint venture partner. The also have allowed Balmain the option of buying that 25% back.

They are also the reason Wests continue to play in Campbelltown despite the fact the ground is over an hours drive from their club.

How can you have money leeching pokie machines and not make a success of a leagues club?

It’s a shame they couldn’t take over the Ashfield school site and build a stadium for the Tigers lol. Perfect location for them.

Once you are on the motorway it is about 15 minutes.

I drove back from the Blue Mountains To Sydney the other day and the turn off to Parramatta coming from the west was banked up for 2-3km so I would take you over 15 minutes to get off the M4 onto Church St.

OK, I am going to let it go. It takes more than 15 minutes.

Tbf though travelling 30-45min to a game really isn’t a hardship lol

It’s not ideal though is it? Even more so if you have had to drive home an hour in Sydney traffic to pick the kids up to then head back the other way.
