If the Tigers had an strategic nous they would have been campaigning for the past 10 years for a stadium in Liverpool. They’d been training there and have a center of excellence there. It makes way more sense than Campbelltown or Parramatta as a permanent base. They are the team for South West Sydney if they want it.

Campbell Street Parramatta.
Thanks for the accuracy of you reply, I'll be around for a beer this afternoon.

For most people the trip to the new Western Sydney Stadium from home in Penrith will be an hour when they are accustomed to travelling 5-10 mins to a home game. I'm not saying this as a Penrith fan, I'm a Wests Tigers fan that travels to all our main home grounds. The difference is I'm accustomed to this travel for a game.

ANZ deserves a full rebuild.

Allianz hosts three club teams, none of which average remotely near 30k.

No offence but if you are going on about "none which average remotely near 30k" for the teams playing out of Allianz, remind me which of the teams playing out of ANZ average close to 30k for crowds? None them do either.

Hey I don't disagree with you about ANZ getting a full rebuild, but you can't use a subjective criteria for one venue and then a different set for the other. It just undermines your whole argument :)

The distance between the two would be 15km. Do you really need two $300mill stadiums within 15km of each other?

I think the idea is an alternate reality with a Liverpool Stadium INSTEAD of a Parra Stadium.

Its true though, Liverpool would be a perfect hub for WTs. they are idiot to stay with their 5 home grounds and their inner west training ground.

You could equally argue that their crwods are so low because any fans/potential fans to the east are accustomed to a long trip and just choose not to go.

In a perfect world, i think their best location would be somewhere near Blacktown (not too much travel for Penrith fans and easier for fans to the east and south (once the new airport is done and all of the new transport links are finished, Penrith have a big new potential market in the SW for fans to head north to the games.)

Exactly.
There is a big cow paddock to the west of Penrith Football Stadium. Move them East into the heartland of Penrith.

Not quite instead, but I’m not saying a Liverpool Stadium should be part of this splurge either. I’m just saying the Tigers should have been spending the last decade making moves to get funding for a stadium in Liverpool. Liverpool is the capital of the south west and will eventually become the 3rd CBD alongside the city and Parramatta. South West Sydney is where all the housing growth is and is where the new airport will be. Campbelltown as a base is OK, but liverpool is bigger, and really a perfect compromise between Campbelltown/Macarthur and Balmain/Leichhardt/InnerWest. It wouldn’t need to be a 700mil stadium...something similar to the old Parramatta would have been fine. But it’s all a moot point as the opportunity is gone.

And PR, your point about the proximity of Parramatta and Liverpool...it’s more that Liverpool is half and hour away from Campbelltown. Parra is over an hour away. No, you wouldn’t get both stadiums done at once, but if you were thinking of putting money into Campbelltown, I think Liverpool would offer a better location

Just for those who think we haven't fallen behind in this country with regards to rectangular stadium up grades, here is an example of a football stadium in Spain in Bilbao. Not a huge city, but look at the quality of the stadium....

ANZ is the nation's rectangular stadium - Origin, Socceroos, Wallabies, etc. Your argument is invalid.
