The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

FWIW the Victorian labor govt cancelled a road contract and paid out $1 billion. It’s unlikely but if they campaigned heavily on it who knows?

It would be very hard for the ALP to cancel the contract if the compensation payout winds up being as much as or more than the construction cost of the rebuild. They would just be accused of wasting money, especially if the old SFS is already demolished by the time of the election in March 2019.

If someone signs a contract with a higher or equal penalty clause than the build cost they need to have their head read. Typically the cancellation fee would be much closer to the profit the firm would’ve seen on the build. I think construction margins are around 20%.

So at a guess a cancellation fee on a 750m build would be around $150m. For instance the $1 billion payout I mentioned was for a road that was going to cost $6-8billion.

But the fee would likely be reduced if the firm got the contract for the new smaller build.

All this is highly unlikely though.

Not sure if this has been posted already, but here’s the prices and sections for parras renewing members for the new stadium.

With the cowboys and eel’s about to move into amazing new 21st century homes this will surely bump up the average attendances in the NRL. But for how long?

Really moving along now after a slow start due to intensive ground works.
Looking good.

From memory they had to raise the level by about 2m in the whole area as well as pretty decent pillars x 10000000 into the ground, so yeah you’re completley right mate.

This stadium is going to be a huge boost to the local economy, being so close to the city centre.
I've never been to Townsville but that video gave a great perspective of it's proximity. It surely must be better for patrons to attend, as opposed to 1300Smiles, or whatever it is called?
This is exactly what Canberra needs.
It would boost attendances without doubt.

this in Canberra with a roof would do wonders for them, surely there is money somewhere for this to happen in the Nation's capital

One would think so.
However, the place is full of boring public servants. New stadiums aren't a priority.

Marvel Stadium (Etihad) plans have been released and it looks like Marvel is going all out.
Apparently there will be superhero statues, climbings walls, a VR centre and other entertainment stuff
It will be great for getting kids to want to go

the A-league will be the first to use the stadium after the rename

I still think the Storm will eventually start being able to take a few bigger games/finals there (if scheduling allows) and could probably already be taking games like the ANZAC clash there.
