Marvel Stadium (Etihad) plans have been released and it looks like Marvel is going all out.
Apparently there will be superhero statues, climbings walls, a VR centre and other entertainment stuff
It will be great for getting kids to want to go

the A-league will be the first to use the stadium after the rename

I still think the Storm will eventually start being able to take a few bigger games/finals there (if scheduling allows) and could probably already be taking games like the ANZAC clash there.

How about instead of a magic weekend, we have a marvel weekend. Every team can dress up as a marvel character and play some footy ball at marvel stadium. Great occasion to get everyone out of the house for once.

Are they sponsoring or buying?

Such a lovely site

Yep.

The pre and post match activities should be awesome. The leagues club has missed out on a lot of that revenue since 2001 because of the 15km distsance between it and the stadium. The new one is only 800m or so from the leaguesy.

these f**kers still want an upgrade to a 5 year old stadium that they never sell out

https://www.northerndailyleader.com.au/story/5629454/giants-want-afl-derby-to-be-like-origin/

Their average attendance at their primary home venue of Spotless Stadium this year is about 12,000, around half of the venue's capacity.

The Giants are continuing to lobby for the ground's capacity to be expanded to 35,000 and chairman Tony Shepherd believes it won't be that long before the club consistently draws big enough crowds to outgrow the venue in it's current configuration.

"If we do continue to get that penetration in western Sydney which we're getting through our community and the AFL programs, I don't think that's too far off," Shepherd told AAP.

The article says that basing a bid around Ballymore was a bad idea - but then says the preferred location for a new stadium is Perry Park, which according to Google Maps is eight minutes from Ballymore?

No government is going build a brand new boutique stadium, when one already exists just down the road that could be upgraded far cheaper. I hate this factional bullshit that the codes fall back to all the time. Who gives a flying f**k who it was built for? It's 20,000 seats surrounding a rectangle of grass. As long as you can get a great deal where the bulk of the gate ends up in your own pocket just use the bloody ground.

Except Ballymore is a run down heap of shit in a crap location stuck in a suburb full of tiny side streets and no train line. Its a crap option. Perry park has much better access to the stadium, and to the city and clubs for pre/after game stuff.

I've had this discussion with people on here before, I'm admittedly not from Brisbane and I've never been to Ballymore. But I've seen enough people say that the newest stand at Ballymore is fine, it's just the old stand on the east side that needs replacing or upgrading. And that there have been proposals for a high-capacity footbridge over the creek, which would open up access to the railway station at Wilston, solving some of the access issues?

They would be better off building something at Springfield or the Ripley Valley (when the train line gets extended to Ripley). That part of Brissy is one of the main growth corridors and there’s land available.

This should happen in Sydney too. The proposed Outer Western Sydney stadium should be near the new airport train line.
