The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

The first one you speak of (the blue prints for the side on profiles of the stands in comparison), there had been no agreements in place by the NRL tbough, it was all very early on in the piece as you say.

f**k knows how it would have been done without a complete knock down though. It would hae been harder IMO to not damage the shit they were trying to keep during the re-make.

I think there was a deal, NRL and the clubs pushed really hard for it.

But they broke that deal by doing Allianz first anyway. The NRL could’ve stood up to them more sadly, no doubt about it.

Honestly the whole thing has been a cluster f**k.

Out of the 3 stadiums only 1 will be done exactly as needed imo. People will disagree on Allianz but I really feel it’s too big for what the stadium is used for.

Life is full of shity compromises

Interesting. The tigers should really be looking at this to help push it along. 18k feels a bit small.

They sort of talk as if the funding is a done deal, I’d find that hard to believe though.

Actually, I think 18000 is perfect, not only for the A-League franchise, but also the Tigers. The Tigers can play their lesser games there and take their bigger games to WSS.
Also, the financial backer of the A-League franchise bid is property developer Lang Walker - not short of a quid.
The NRL could do worse than to lobby local and state and Fed govt's to get behind this proposal. It'd be a win for both rectangular sports.

I still reckon 20k should be the aim for it, a sell out of 20k sounds much better than sell out of 18k (superficial I know).

Yep. Superficial, but I know where you're coming from. Don't forget that 18000 is way more than the Tigers ever get there these days anyway, so it's still a win.

Also, it's interesting to note that in that article it says that a $26.5 million COE for football will commence construction in February and be completed by 2020. First I've heard of that.

It'd be nice if RL had rich benefactors like that. Paul Lederer, part owner of the Wanderers, is currently pouring $15 million into a COE facility at Blacktown Olympic Park.

Yeah fair point if they only used it for the lesser games. But if they were at all considering a permanent move I’d think 22-25k might be better.

I’m sure Lang Walker has plenty of money, but this would have to cost $200m minimum. Doubt he’d sink that much in.

I wonder if the Tigers could get in on a combined centre of excellence? They’ve been trying to do one in concord for a long time.

Obviously not all the facilities could be used for both teams, but there would be some crossover.

Seems as there is multiple investors.

In a vote of confidence for a project to be jointly financed by council, local and state government and private funding, all 28 of the planned corporate boxes have already been pre-sold.

It will feature a function room for 400 people and even a hotel next door to the stadium.

Backed by billionaire property tycoon Lang Walker, and an array of local business identities, MSWS have already agreed a 15-year rolling tenancy with Campbelltown Council for a peppercorn rent.

Anyway, the more I read the article, the more of a load of shite I think it is.
I mean, who's going to pay for corporate boxes for a stadium that not only hasn't been built yet, but hasn't even been designed or had approval for, for a team that doesn't even exist yet?

In an ideal world, the NRL would throw in some cash themselves and become part owners.

Have the Tigers play 8-10 games there a year and they'd be set.

Where are they looking to put this stadium? Where Campbelltown Stadium currently is?

Yep.

Also if they bring in this side instead of Wollongong and Canberra the admin is seriously f**ked in the head.

True though...

I think they should aim for 22k, because then a sell out will sometimes only draw 20,21k. 20k capacity will always be in the 19,000s. Boring ha

If they only played the non-Sydney clubs there during the regular season, a 6/6 split with WSS, 18k is fine. Even if they had a cracker season, selling out an 18k season for a game vs. Canberra or the GC would he preferable to having 19 or 20 in a 30k venue.

Indeed, But Dave UMMMMM wants to fish where the fish are, on the behest of Fox Sports.
Worst sports administrator ever.
Indeed, Wollongong and Canberra should no doubt be the next two teams.
Anyway, after today, the Lowy's are gone. I'm hoping Gallop is next, and the sport can bring in a real football administrator.

Don't tell that dipstick Shepherd, he'll want his pound of flesh.

Lol.
Yeh, he would want it turned into a circle and suck millions out of Campbelltown Council yearly.
Don't worry, this is a football initiative. They hate the AFL more than League does.
They'd just tell him to f**k off.
