to show its serious the NRL should go ahead with "preliminary" bidding for the 2020 GF, then it can say Qld or Vic or whoever will be given the GF if Sydney doesn't honour the deal

Nooo.

Never promise something you can’t deliver.

It’s unlikely anyone will properly bid, but if they do, they’ll be burnt if it stays in Sydney.

Actually I'm responding to reasons being given for it being necessary to knock it down, things I wouldn't have thought terminal.

Yes but you respond to them singularly, not acknowledging that it’s several factors coming together that demand money be spent.

Show me a person who has made the claim Allianz needs to be knocked down just because it has a bad roof?

That’s one of several reasons, when put together make for a compelling case for either a knock down or a massive refurbishment.

When these new stadiums are complete it's going to be a massive shock to some people that crowded places are still going to be crowded.

What?

People are hoping they’re more crowded. That’s one of the aims here.

But more crowded doesn’t have to equal slower service etc.

But it will. That's economic reality. And they're still going to be serviced by slow transport options.

The new stadium will be fun for a year. Then we'll complain again.

Wow - I have hardly been here since the Grand Final, but it looks like Labor will win the election. There is no way Daley could go back on his statement that neither stadium 'will receive a single cent'. Has he been asked directly if he will do anything at all with Sydney stadiums if elected?

The NSW Parliamentary Committee which looked at the Stadium Strategy found the safety and security issues at Allianz are valid and need to be addressed. Don't forget this committee was not dominated by the Government.

For those wanting to read it - https://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/lcdocs/inquiries/2483/Final report - Sydney stadiums strategy.pdf

NSW Govt pays $4m for the GF. There’s reports multiple cities including Auckland offering $10m for the event. The GF brings a minimum of $20m through tourism to Sydney. If the gets moved from Sydney the taxpayer will be paying a minimum of $10m for the event to come back to Sydney and NSW tourism businesses lose $20m (minimum) for the one week. Politicians need to stay out of our lives.

It could be read like that, but it was badly worded.
My understanding is that once approval is received which it states is a formality, the safe standing section will be installed.
It will be permanent and will accommodate both the Eels and Wanderers. When the Wanderers are playing, they fold the seats up and lock them into position. When the Eels are playing, they fold them down and lock them into position.
See the pics below.....

IOW NRL fans stage a sit in, and Wanderer's fans stand to attention to laud Gallop.

You have an amazing ability to speak in non specific language. Ie “that’s the economic reality”

What do you mean by this?

More service points at BankWest stadium will result in quicker service than the previous stadium. More toilets for women will result in less time in queues.

Further, all the stadiums will actually receive improved transport options over the next decade.

BankWest - Light rail & a new metro rail line. Adding to the existing heavy rail line.

ANZ - Light rail & a new metro rail line. Adding to existing heavy rail.

Allianz - New light rail line.

Please address the issues in a specific manner if you want your criticism to be taken seriously.

You just don’t seem to know much about the issues

The new Parramatta to CBD metro will be be quick, and will actually help people get to all 3 Sydney stadium precincts. More easily for Parramatta & Olympic Park, but it will also help people get to Moore Park from the west. Admittedly this involves an interchange & a walk. But still an improvement for many people.

An example of the clear benefits of th metro west for the stadiums.

There’s going to be a stop at rozelle. This will allow tigers fans in the inner west to quickly & easily get to their games at bankwest stadium. Will be a 20 minute train ride & then a short walk to the ground.

So you really believe that the stadium should have been built in Penrith? I live in Penrith and that is just a silly statement! Bankwest (I miss the WSS name already) already has the Eels and Tigers guaranteeing to play games at the stadium with the Wanderers soon to commit and if they were smart both the Bulldogs and Penrith would look to move some games there. It will attract concert in Parramatta that would be unlikely to be held in Penrith. If this stadium was built in Penrith it would have the Panthers play games there and possibly a couple from the Tigers, but I doubt that. Surely even in your biased eyes you can see your argument just doesn't stack up?

As for your argument for ANZ and Bankwest being too close together they should be used for vastly different purposes.
The stadium when proposed back in 2014 that was to be put in Penrith had the likes of us, Wanderers, sides like Cantebury and Tigers taking a NRL game here and there and it even had the Emus playing there. It was touted to have 40k capacity and be billed as a healthy alternative to ANZ stadium due to its location. The Wanderers have come out time and time again to boast about how 'massive' their base is in Penrith and the Blue Mountains so by their words this would have worked. I understand clubs have put forward guarantees to play games in Parramatta, I'm talking prior to the proposal. Obviously if it was located differently you wouldn't have Tigers putting forward a plan to play games in Parramatta haha.

If Penrith were smart they'd move games there? Lmao. Penrith has only ever moved one home game to ANZ stadium and that was in 2004 in a grand final rematch against the Roosters. A year after they won the comp. They got 22k to the game and never did it again. If they only took one game to a stadium 34 minutes away they wouldn't be 'smart to look to move some games' to a stadium that's 36 minutes away. The only reason besides it being because of the finals and them having to take a game there(gotta hit that empty seat quota dawg) would be because Gus said on twitter that it would increase our chances of getting a new stadium in Penrith sooner rather than later. But by the looks of what he said on Twitter a few hours ago and how state politics is shaping up it seems highly unlikely now that we'll get a stadium now regardless. It would more likely make NSW Labor go "sEE, hOmE GAmEs fORtY MInuTEs aWAy IsN'T tHat bAD".

Vastly different purposes? Bulldogs are moving games there, Tigers are moving games from ANZ to there, Souths will most likely move games soon. The purposes are the exact same. It's not like ANZ is for AFL and a few NRL clubs are finally gonna be able to play games in Sydney.

This whole stadium plan is complete garbage.

I dont think Penrith needs a new stadium maybe an upgrade which wouldnt be too hard to do with its current configuration,
what Penrith should do is buy the stadium and upgrade it themselves, they have enough money

I think there will have to be a compromise made here. The economic hit Sydney would take from losing all of those matches across all three codes would be massive.

However, Daley is an idiot whose entire policy book seems to be 'The coalition are doing that, so I won't', so I who knows.

The current Govt didn't listen to enough types of people. No one agrees with another 45k at Moore Park. This sort of stuff needs to be spelt out to Labor.

Panthers have just gone through restructuring & wiping some debt. We’re rich, but we’re not upgrade our own stadium rich.

I mean we could afford to do minor work, but Penrith stadium would need $100m to really improve it. Possibly a new western stand & southern stand with significant undercover seating.

Also, and correct me if I am wring, but isn't Panthers Stadium actually owned by the local council and not the Panthers anyway?

the only ones who wanted a stadium in Penrith were Penrith

the Wanderderps never wanted to move there and wanted Pirtek upgraded
