The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Mate, you haven’t researched this at all. You’re making all these presumptions based on understandings of existing stadiums.

Case in point.

The food at BankWest stadium.

They’re going to have what they’re calling a “food village”, this will be a totally different set up to existing stadiums. It will actually be outside the stadium in the concourse area and will utilise existing food truck businesses. Ie. experts in food prep & service.

You could’ve saved yourself from being wrong all the time by doing some simple research.

Great. And no one could ever tow a caravan up to an existing stadium.

Lol.

You’ve been proven wrong time & time again so all you do is shift the argument.

This food area will be in stadium property, a dedicated concourse. Not out clogging the streets.

They’re actually trying to do a heap of different things with this stadium.

Food concourse

Craft beer focus

New lighting

Children’s area

Greatly improved rake

Most seats undercover

Retrofitting these things to existing stadiums isn’t a simple task, a clean slate provided this opportunity.

You said “it’ll be the same old slow public transport”

I proved this was wrong.

So you shift it to

“People in the west won’t use public transport”

This whole post is garbage!
1. The Wanderers would not have taken games to Penrith, they played a grand total of zero in Penrith during the rebuild.

2. You claim that playing games at Parra is too far away from Penrith but also state that both the Bulldogs and Tigers would have played games in Penrith, not a chance mate.

3. Yes they should be used for vastly different purposes, ANZ should be used for SOO and Finals, Bankwest for club games. ANZ is too big for club games and should be an event stadium,

I live in Penrith and there is no justification for a stadium out here, if you had of argued for the Blacktown proposal I could have given you some credit but your posts reek of just wanting what is best for your club and stuff the realities of the situation.
You clearly didn't read my post.

1. Wanderers didn't take any games there because their fans thought they would have been better off at Spotless. Countless Wanderers fans have voiced their regret over it ever since they placed the FFA cup game during their rebuild in...Penrith.

2. Yes...Bulldogs and Tigers were considering taking games to wherever the new stadium was placed. Even Liverpool. They are nowhere near as gridlocked in a certain area as Penrith are. They, along with teams like Dragons, Souths and Parra have a big presence in the greater west. Penrith fans aren't as spread over.

3. So just the GF and an Origin game a year at ANZ? Who will play finals matches at ANZ? Do you honestly think Souths will choose to play at ANZ instead of BankWest regardless of their opponent? Their base has shifted to western Sydney and even if they were hosting the Roosters they'd be reluctant to play at ANZ. Teams don't get anything from tickets to finals matches as that goes entirely into the NRL's pocket, so there's no logical reason why they wouldn't lock as many Roosters fans out from going to the game as possible, just as Roosters did to Souths fans this year by playing at Allianz. Whether it's tens of thousands or just a few. They are very much going to be taking content of one another.

No, i said it should be in Penrith as it is one of the fastest growing places around. More and more infrastructure is being built there and what comes with that is more locally based jobs. Which brings more people to live out there and most importantly the vast majority of workers from Penrith that usually have to travel to the city to work is slowly decreasing. This is going to make it easier for Penrith people to come in larger numbers to games regardless of whether it's a Saturday night game or a 6pm Friday game.

Look at Penrith's crowd averages over the past several years. In 2015 we had a bog shit year with injuries but it still jumped from 2014 when we came 4th. Consistent finals finishes is a major reason for the upward trajectory but another major reason is that the area is improving and growing all the time. Like I said teams have a decent following out here and along with what I just said that's why I believed it would have worked.

Not 'bias'.

A craft beer focus- cool. ($14 for undrinkable shyte, my opinion but obviously not everyone else’s)
Should be good when the government insists that it's all mid-strength or light.
They could still have stocked this at the old SFS though.Or is the concrete not thick enough to accommodate a bartender with a beard?

Ok let’s come back in a couple of years and see how all this works out and the value for money. I'm sure it will be better, but not by much. It'll be much more expensive and not much better.

you need to be medicated

the Wanderderps think Penrith is aids and one of the many reasons the FFA wouldn't sell them to Penrith is because their fan base don't want to go there

no other team team apart from Penrith would ever play there because it's out the back of buggery

I think there will have to be a compromise made here. The economic hit Sydney would take from losing all of those matches across all three codes would be massive.

However, Daley is an idiot whose entire policy book seems to be 'The coalition are doing that, so I won't', so I who knows.

Yes, sadly it looks like he is taking the “Tony Abbott” approach to government...

1. The fact is when the Wanderers had no other place to play their games they still didn't play in Penrith, they have no desire to do so. Countless Wanderers fans means nothing mate, show me proof the club wants or wanted to commit to Penrith?

2. Source please as I doubt the bulldogs or Tigers would have commited to playing games in Penrith

3. Your post is so hard to read at this point but I will try to counter your argument. ANZ should only be used for matches that have an expected large crowd like the a Dogs Eels final for example, it should be our event stadium. Everything else should be played at Bankwest, Allianz and the suburban grounds.

As I said I live in Penrith, I know what is happening here. Penrith has nothing to offer as a centralised stadium as it is not central to Sydney.

The Wanderers and the FFA basically told the Panthers Group to f**k off when Panthers put in a bid to buy the licence when it was for sale. Two reasons.

1. A comment from the then CEO of the Panthers (whose name I can't remember) who likened the purchase to that of a Crispy Cream franchise, or something similar. The backlash from those comments by the fans and members to the Wanderers management was absolutely scathing.
2. The treatment by the LAC to Wanderers fans at the first ever game they played there. It was disgraceful.

Ever since then, the Wanderers have been very cool on taking games to Penrith.
They've taken more games to Campbelltown, who have been very welcoming and fans actually enjoy going to.
Once WSS opens, it'll be only bad luck or unforeseen circumstances if there's ever another game at Penrith (despite the amount of fans the Wanderers have out there.) I've never read one comment from a Wanderers fan who lives in the Penrith region that would prefer the club plays at Penrith over Parramatta.

On a side note, the "food village" concept is not new either. Its been done before at the SFS by the Roosters and the NRL in previous years.

Tbqh they’re pretty weak reasons to reject a sale.

There had to be more to it than that, if not it says a lot about where the FFA are at under Gallop.

Hey Quicksilver - we get it. Give you a tinnie of KB and a lukewarm chiko roll on a bench with a half-decent view of the ground and you're fine.

However others in this thread have realized that stadium design, and what the bulk of contemporary fans want in a match-day experience is slightly different from when the Newtown Jets last made a first grade grand final and that's what we're discussing.

Are you saying leave ANZ as it is, and only use it 6 -10 times for sport plus some concerts?
