Do you have kids? Would you take kids an hour on the drive/Car at 10pm on a school night?

Yes i have kids. Mine tend to sleep on the way home, the only game I dont like taking them to is the Monday night games which will be gone after this season. I do think the Thursday night games should start earlier. My daughter is in bed at 7.30 every night so im not really concerned by the odd night she has a later night. And yes i live on Penrith and we attend games all over Sydney.

haha us at Parra Stadium won't work. lets see how many Panthers fans go to the game on Sunday. I guess around 2k. Far better off having those 2 games in Bathurst and Christchurch as we have now

Seriously Penrith fans must be the softest supporters in the NRL. 25 mins drive is now too far away. Wow!

Not really, the NRL is planning for the next 40 years and believes eventually the Sydney clubs that survive will become more popular and all have 30-40k members and crowds of 30k plus regularly. A RL stadium equivalent of Suncorp size and quality would suit that perfectly. ANZ is fine for big events and the parra stadium will be fine until clubs get to 30k crowds.

Nrl doesn't want to see 15-20k fans rattling around in ANZ for the next 20 years, it's a terrible look for the game. Once again clubs immediate self interest is likely to scupper the long term vision for the game.

I wonder what vested interested media has in an ANZ upgrade as they seem very heavily biased to it in their reporting.

I dont understand the ARLCs facination with Moore Park...

Only the Rooters based themselves there, the rest of the regular season games would be a patchwork of teams moving 1-2 games from the other side of the city. 55k is utterly inadequate for Origin or the GF given ANZ is up the road.

ANZ on the other hand is centrally located to house 2-3 (Rabbits, Dogs, maybe Tigers) teams almost full time, plus a far more reasonable trip for fans from Penrith/Eels/St George (even the Shark and Manly). Homebush has far better public transport links and the parking options are lightyears ahead of Moore Park.

I never thought id say it but F*CK THE ARLC, IM WITH THE CLUB LAND OLD BOYZZZZ...

You must have this strange idea that fans would need to travel from their home to Penrith then into Homebuh/Parra...

I good chunk would have the same travel time to a Parra game as they would a Penrith game. And hosting it closer to the city will allow more neutral RL fan to get to the game.

Really, the only demographic genuinely put out by the move in would be people living right out in the Blue Mountains that make the fortnightly trek in to see the Panthers.

All 2 of them....

Manly: The Sea Eagles are hellbent on upgrading Brookvale Oval, and any move to Allianz Stadium will require significant investment from the NRL to provide transport options to help fans commute to and from the northern beaches. The Sea Eagles take two matches from Brookvale each season and the NRL is budgeting for those two games to be moved to Allianz Stadium. Moving more than two games would require a change of the club's constitution

Well they can f*ck right of...

They have a plethora of options to choose from between Gosford, ANZ and Moore Park, yet it in their dank little swap moaning about all they should be entitled to. It would be a god damn travesty if any public funding (aside from a local council splooge) went to Brooky. Only 1 side would benefit and, as they say, public transport to the area is shit.

I can understand that they dont want to lose their identity and head into Sydney with all the ret, but there is a perfectly goo stadium sitting up in Gosford with a local population demanding a team. Yet they would rather cling to the glory days of the 70s and pretend a $billion redevelopment is right around the corner.

Entitled prats...

Why don't the neutrals come to SFS games now or ANZ? Sydney's transport isn't set up to get to and from these places when games are played.

We have a good solid 6k that's at all games at Penrith. Is there a person here that has seen that many Panthers fans at any away game ever?

Not just us but it seemed stuff all Manly fans at the SFS on Sat night? Perfect night for footy really yet they didn't come

Well maybe Penrith doesnt have the supporter base for a team?

Maybe 30-35 if you have trouble finding a park. But it can be difficult finding a park in penrith on game days.

Parra leagues is building a 1500 spot carpark, which should be up before the stadium is complete. Should relieve some parking issues.

Given there are more teams based at ANZ, and all big events are held at that stadium (SoO, NRL Finals, premium soccer games, premium Union tests), it seems silly to spend the bulk of the money on new stadium to be used by 3 teams (Sydney FC, Waratahs and Roosters), while the big events at ANZ suffer still from the way the stadium is setup. If you make the experience better at ANZ, and we have seen how much crowds have grow up to this point for teams that have relocated to ANZ (Souths is a great example given they moved from the SFS to ANZ), that it only makes sense to ensure this ground is the best it can be.

Really it's either provide the extra $200mil to do both grounds, or just refurbish SFS (which is why the outrage as those 3 teams have well connected stakeholders who don't want to be displaced while a refurbishment happens) and spend the bulk of the money on ANZ. With a possible light rail from Parra going to homebush in the future, it may be even easier for big crowds to get to games.

It's a lot easier at Penrith. You have Nepean Square. Jamison Park, The Streets etc but yes if we were to add another 10k on to there it would struggle too

Needs a P1 type parking station and a Bus station. The problem is unless you knock the Pools down there's no where really around there

Isn't that called Westfields parramatta and any of the multitude of buses that go out that way, though the option to walk is always there as well. Plenty of other parking areas in Parramatta as well. Most of the business district parking clears out before a footy game.

It is even sillier when the Roosters, Sydney FC and the Waratahs are all on record as saying they would prefer the bulk of the money spent on ANZ with a staged refurbishment of the SFS.

To me the only reason I can see the "new Stadium at Moore Park" being pursued is so they can build it on land currently part of the Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust. Once that is done, they can then knock down the SFS and turn it into Admin Offices and a huge car park.

Thing is the NRL, who don't use any ground beyond what 3-6 games per year, is the only organisation supporting this plan. Even Football Federation Australia have come out in favour of ANZ.

As such with all its effected stakeholders plumping for ANZ Stadium to get the bulk of the funds, the NRL acting against its own clubs' interests is perplexing.

They already are knocking down the pools at Parramatta so they can have a Suncorp Stadium style promenade outside. That is why many locals are pissed off about it considering those pools received a multi-million dollar upgrade about 5-6 years ago from Parramatta Council.

Doesn't SFS have those things? Yet you can't get in an out of that place easy.

We play a winter sport usually at night. It's a great walk I will do it on Sunday. If it was a Thursday night with kids in rain/cold maybe not.

I think ANZ has the best setup for getting in and out of. Just the viewing that's that issue

Do you have a quote to support this? Everything I've read says what they don't want is a knock-down and then rebuild because they want somewhere to play for 3 years.

Precisely what he was saying.

They want the SFS refurbed not rebuilt which means the bulk of the money will go to ANZ.

Refurb will be half the price of a rebuild.

That said it does surprise me they don't want a new stadium on the centennial parklands , that way they wouldn't need to move for three years.

Although I have the feeling centennial parklands has been ruled out due to the community backlash.

The billions spent on stadiums will be wasted as long as infrastructure is not properly upgraded. ANZ has terrible options to get in and out, SFS is worse.

The NRL and Sydney is trying to replicate the AFL and Melbourne's stadium rationalization policy. But it is missing they key ingredient that made it work in Melbourne. Melbourne's public transport and road infrastructure is on another world compared to Sydney. I feel not enough people in the NRL and NSW government realize this.

There is no where else in Sydney that you could put a stadium and have better access via rail and road. The only thing I would like to see is that you eliminate having to change trains at Lidcome and ensure trains to and from the city are there gameday.
