On a side note, and more related to the Future Stadiums topic.

I wonder what the food will be like at WSS?

Lebanese, greek, italian, indian, chinese, etc.
Riverside brewery running the taps alongside the XXXX golds.

By end of season I am looking like Mark Tookey.

What $100million buys you. TBF if they built two stands like these at Cronulla, Manly and Penrith you'd be a long way to helping them clubs sustainability and long term futures in situ. NRL just needs to convince Govt to stump up $300mill!

Was the $100M for the whole park or just that stand? What’s on the opposite side and what’s the total capacity?

Basically the big stand and the end stand you can see in pic. Also sorted out changing rooms, new screens and reload pitch but bulk was on these two stands and the toilets, food etc behind them. The end stand has been built to take a roof at future point in time.

West stand is an old grandstand with limited seating and mostly corporate boxes. Other end is a combination of seats and standing terracing.

Capacity is currently 21k ish. Eventually they will have to re build the west stand with more modern corporate facilities and the shed end probably with all seating. Taking it up to around 25-30k I would imagine.

Was short term thinking, they should have built a new stadium on same site as perth stadium.

Unfortunately that won't be enough at Penrith as we need more corporate facilities.

Sydney should have hands-down the best rectangular stadium network in the country and this is coming from a Queenslander:

There should be multiple WSS clone stadia around the city:

WSS in the West for the Eels, Tigers, Dogs, Wanderers
Allianz in the Easty for the Roosters, Manly, Warratahs & Sydney FC
One in the South for the Dragons, Sharks & Rabbitohs

plus

ANZ for Grand Finals, Origins and Major Preliminary Finals

Penrith can stay at Panthers with the carrot to the local council of regular small upgrades in exchange for keeping games in Penrith.

The population will be there even the airport will make travel there easier..Problem is not sure there is the usage for a new ground.

If you’re going to put a new ground there someone needs to give up a ground somewhere else or the overall stadium maintenance overheads just keep growing and the overall usage gets spread even further. And in terms of location it’s not really an obvious replacement for any, it’s midway between Penrith and Campbelltown but a fair way from either so I don’t see either of those clubs and communities being keen to give up their grounds.

To work Penrith would need to move there full time, relegating Penrith Stadium to lower tiers of football.

Yeah pretty much. And I’d argue the Campbelltown half of the Tigers and/or the Bulldogs as well. Ground sharing is the way forward for top tier teams.

Tigers moving games there won't really help Penrith's push for a new stadium though as they are getting closer to a permanent move to a shared ground already. I think in the next 2 years the WT will commit to play the majority of their games at Bankwest.

Bulldogs would be the logical partner then, especially if a direct rail link from the CBD through the Liverpool area out to the airport is built as that will runnright through dogs heartland.

In terms of location, Penrith and Campbelltown will be closer to the airport than they are to Parramatta. Their location will likely be a moot point anyway because in the future Penrith and Campbelltown will be at the extremities of the city around based around the airport.

Of course plans may change, but it’s a logical option at this stage.

Penrith will lobby like hell to get upgrades to Panthers Stadium before ever considering something else, they make too much money from the leagues club on game day.

Also keep in mind that the new South West Sydney A-League team has committed to Campbelltown. If they get some momentum in the next 5-10 years, and the Tigers commit to more games, it could be a bit like an Eels-Wanderers situation with Parramatta.

I think in the short term the Tigers will use Bankwest, but in the long term committing to Campbelltown could be beneficial. Unfortunately they don't seem to regularly get good crowds down there.

That is the problem, I don't see them lasting that long in Campbelltown unless the crowds improve. The ownership of the club is in the inner west.
