Penrith is too close to Parramatta for the government to chip in for more spending so unless they can pay for it themselves it should not happen.
Just move their games to Bank West. Easy.
Agreed. Also, Cronulla is too close to Perth for the government to chip in for a new stadium there. They should just move their games to Optus Stadium. Easy.

As I said earlier on the thread, Penrith, the Tigers, Dogs and SW Sydney A-League should pool their resources and lobby for a new stadium in the new SW Sydney airport precinct with public transport links to their main supporter areas. Get 4 anchor tenants and you’ve got a real proper shot at getting a first class 25K+ stadium off the ground and it’d geographically compliment what we already have.

Agreed. The Panthers probably just need to sit tight for now - apparently there is going to be some heavy investment in and around the SW Sydney Airport as some sort of technological metropolis of the future and it's plausible that a Bankwest 2.0 would be part of the plans.

Penrith is further away from Parramatta than the roosters are from parramatta. Are the roosters too close to parramatta for Allianz to be rebuilt? No. The issue is the amount of tenants, not distance.

I don’t see Penrith going in on this, but the other teams possibly. Penrith isn’t really anywhere close to these other territories, where as in comparison the Tigers & Dogs meet around Liverpool.

Penrith is basically a regional centre and should be treated that way. A decent stadium should be funded.

The Penrith area starts pretty close to Bankwest.
If they shift games there, the Panthers supporter base would be better off. Not so much the Leagues club which is the real issue.

I still think that one of Penrith's main issues will be that Panthers Stadium just isn't that bad. It's the best suburban ground in the competition.

This is why I could eventually see them doing an 8-4 split, with them playing 8 at Panthers which would continue to receive small upgrades keeping them in business, and their Western Sydney derby's at Bankwest.

The fans of the club were asked about this last year, and it was a resounding no. Parramatta and Wests Tigers games have for years drawn bigger crowds at Penrith, why would you move them to Parramatta?

The plan for suburban venues should be modelled on Newcastle / English soccer

You build one quarter at a time

I would actually build a new Southern stand at Penrith next. But based on a full stadium rebuild

The Penrith area to the east is pretty hard to define, there’s a mixture of a heap of fans though that Blacktown area. Fact remains it isn’t close enough to easily take games there.

I don’t see any growth in crowds for Penrith at BankWest. Obviously if we took our bulldogs, Tigers & Eels games there, but overall no real growth.

What’s the point of a southern stand? There’s hardly any room there, it’d be a tiny stand. Best for the southern end is an elevated safe standing area. Cheap & will improve views.

Penrith Vs the Eels at BankWest probably pulls 20-25k, depending on the form of the teams. Ditto dogs & Tigers.

At Penrith they probably pull 16-19k

So you’d need to weigh up the increased crowds against the loss of leagues club revenue & quite likely Penrith membership revenue loss. The bigger crowds at BankWest would be mostly driven by the opposition.

I think you have to remember that the growth in crowds for Penrith would be mostly coming from opposition fans, in fact I think there could be a reduction in Penrith fans. If there was a reduction in panthers fans at the games, and also likely a reduction in memberships, this isn’t a good long term business strategy. Penrith don’t have a large supporter base as is, I’m not sure the club can afford to piss off members by making them travel 35km east.

Good, they can start following Parra then.

They should take those games there. 20k plus and the fans will have cheaper food and a better view.

Look at where Badgery’s Creek is on a map though. It’s pretty much the exact mid-point between Penrith, Bankstown and Campbelltown. You are right though in that Dogs territory around Liverpool is closer, but then so are areas like Erskine Park and Glenmore Park which would be Penrith territory and growing further in that direction. Basically all three territories are going to converge there as Sydney continues to grow.

Have free members buses from the Leagues club to Bankwest. They could even build pokie machines into the back of the bus seats.

Penrith should have a strategy to take over Eels territory from west of Bankwest.

Might also get more people from outside the traditional area interested in supporting Penrith. Not to mention gate sales are worth more than what members pay so having 10k plus opposition fans paying at the gate would be a nice earner. Penrith crowd avg has been pretty poor last few years ranging from 10k-14.6k. Some crowd boosts from games at Bankwest would help the games avg for sure. Should be done in partnership with NRL so transport, marketing, stadium hire etc can be financially supported.
