I think at this point the three clubs should be agitating for a temporary venue to be built somewhere in the East, such as the car park next to the Hordern Pavillion, so they aren’t homeless for an indeterminate period.

They did it for the football team in Vancouver when their stadium was being redeveloped as a winter Olympic venue and it took less than 6 months to build and cost about $10 million. Just all the stands were scaffold and it was only designed to last five years.

Penrith would rank about 10th in NSW for an upgrade. Newcastle, Wollongong, several bush clubs all rank above.
Maybe if they had of put their hand up for a WNRL team they could have had a better argument but they were to dumb.
Parra was just upgraded and Penrith should shift their games there.

Amenities wise, Newcastle has had a shed load of money spent on it, re-doing to western stand and building the eastern stand on the hill. It is well down the list on "needs" upgrades in my opinion.

The NSW Government will not spend money on stadiums they don't own. Brookvale and Penrith aren't owned by them so don't expect the money from the SFS rebuild to be directed to those stadiums as your dreaming if you think it will happen.

The trouble with this attitude is that everyone in NSW contributes to the Government owned stadia, while only Penrith ratepayers contribute to Penrith, Warringah to Brookvale, and so forth. Not exactly equitable.

I contribute to Panthers stadium and I'm not a Panthers fan, Penrith missed the boat by not pushing for WSS to be in Blacktown! It was a selfish attitude so they can play in the stadium they have!

A centralised stadium used by Penrith, Eels and the Tigers would have worked. Spending $ on a stadium just for Penrith will not work!

Penrith won’t get a stadium, but stand upgrades are possible. Whatever the govt says now, the reality is the area is a swing seat. I’m sure we’ll see some money thrown at it be from federal or state govts.

Some people have no idea.
For a lot of the supporters it is a lot more than 15km, and public transport is not a viable option. Parramatta and WSW would never have agreed to Blacktown. Besides show some proof that it was ever an option!

Blacktown is more in the middle of Penrith territory than Penrith is. That must be the case since there is essentially zero population west of Penrith.

With the State Government looking to build a new stadium or redevelop an existing sporting facility in western Sydney, Blacktown Council wants a piece of the action.
The government’s stadiums strategy policy outlines plans to provide the region with a modern “tier two” facility, with a seating capacity of between 20,000 and 40,000.

Penrith has already shown its hand with a mooted $500 million redevelopment of Sportingbet Stadium and surrounds, while Parramatta and Liverpool are also understood to be contenders.

Blacktown Mayor Len Robinson believes Blacktown is the perfect location for a new stadium.
However Blacktown Mayor Len Robinson believes Blacktown deserves to be recognised as the ideal location for any new development.

“With the hold on sport that Blacktown has it would be foolish to situate western Sydney’s largest stadium anywhere else,” Cr Robinson said.

“The home of sport and the heart of western Sydney, Blacktown is an excellent location for a stadium to service the western Sydney population.”

Currently home to 318,000 residents, Blacktown is the largest Local Government Area in the state, and its population is expected to exceed 500,000 by 2036.

It was reportedly identified as the best strategic option for a new western Sydney stadium as part of Australia’s unsuccessful 2018 FIFA World Cup bid.

Blacktown International Sportspark is already the training and administration base for the Western Sydney Wanderers and NSW Speed Blitz Blues, and is also the state’s premier softball and baseball facility.

The article just says Blacktown wanted the stadium, not that it was ever considered a viable option. Parramatta would never have agreed, nor would have WSW.
