What many of you are forgetting is that about a certain number of seats need to be set aside for the trust. I'd say that's why it needs to be slightly bigger than WSS. At the SFS, the entire second tier of the Western stand was trust members wasn't it?

With roosters membership numbers it’s not likely to ever be an issue.

Penrith was critical in both state and federal elections but I didn't see a bumper being offered foe the stadium.

The problem, of course, is that ratepayers in Warringah, Kogarah, Penrith and Campbelltown local government areas (and Sharks Leagues club members as well) are expected to not only pay via council rates for their local grounds , but to pay for state Government owned grounds as well (that they do not use). Completely and utterly inequitable and the reason local councils are now keeping their coffers shut.

Manly, st George and Penrith are invited to move to the state grounds but refuse to.

Ok if WSS design had to accomodate 8000 SCG members - where do they sit ?

Does the WSS design need to change ?

Plus you have season ticket holders who sit on the Western stand

Dont know if you can raise the WSS roof say 10 seat rows and push back the corporate boxes that could allow more seating on the Western side.

If this is a thing then I am even more on board with leaving a hole in the ground there and putting the money into building a stadium else where. SCG trust/members can go sit on it potsy.

Yeah sure! SFS (Government funded) is in your backyard, and if you had any commonsense at all you would be playing there when it is rebuilt!
But at the moment you play at ANZ which is of course Government funded!
You chose to play at ANZ, and as you state, it is only 17km away - not > 30km as you think Penrith should!

Souths, perhaps the government should build us a ground in Redfern rather than us playing 17km away. Whilst they’re at it Belmore is looking a bit shabby.

Best way to fix Redfern is to either add a hill or duplicate the grandstand on the Eastern end and add a Southern end stand

I don’t think Penrith should do anything. I just don’t think he government should be funding stadiums for single clubs.
Play at Penrith but don’t complain about not getting hand out from the state when there are going to be three great choices.
If Souths didn’t play at ANZ the stadium would still be there.

Typical “I’m OK Jack, F.... you!” attitude.
I pay taxes along with thousands in the Penrith/Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury areas but obviously we don’t count.
Let’s just build three stadiums in a 10km radius (parramatta, Homebush, Spotless) and one for the Eastern suburbs tiffs, and totally neglect the outer west!

But Souths will be OK so you don’t give a damn!

The concept around building stadiums in Sydney is that they will serve multiple purposes for various codes of sport. The Sydney region is a hub, therefore stadiums such as ANZ, the new Allianz and Bankwest can host League, Union, Soccer, Concerts etc for the general Sydney region and draw the appropriate crowd and interest from the greater Sydney Region. I actually think the 3 new stadiums for the future (ANZ, Allianz and Bankwest), are unique in their capacity means. Such as having a Matidas game as Bankwest as they may only draw 20K crowd, while the Socceroos can either play at ANZ or the new Allianz depending on opposition and draw 40K+. The same is for concerts, having 3 different capacities (30K+, 45K+ and 85K+) can give promoters for sports and concerts an affordable and realistic opportunity to economically benefit.

Realistically, the government isn't going to build or redevelop a 100's of million dollar stadium out far west to only host Panthers, potentially A-League, maybe some union or womens sports.

There is no argument to build a stadium in Penrith, it would not get used enough!

The Matilda’s were based in Penrith this year.
Besides, they don’t want $100’s of millions as you suggest, just enough to make it a modern all seater around 25000.
But obviously you are very Sydneycentric and don’t realise just how many people there are west of Parramatta, and probably never will!

Lol at people in Penrith feeling neglected by the NSW state government.

Try leaving anywhere rural/regional.

Maybe the NSW government should have stepped in and upgraded Seagulls stadium 25 years ago!!!!

Souths aren’t ok they’re playing in a stadium totally unfitting our needs.
Even if Souths didn’t play at ANZ I would back it’s refurb, having at least one decent Large rectangular stadium is an investment in the nation that needs to happen.
Also all the stadiums you’re talking about are owned by the state, penrith isn’t.
I don’t know why you’re bringing spotless in to it as it’s not a comparable asset.

This idea of ‘I pay taxes and I live in Penrith so give me a stadium’ is beyond moronic.

Well, I live in Newcastle. So unless you can guarantee that none of the taxes I pay go to your stadium in Penrith then no deal.

There are going to be three state of the art stadiums in Sydney. I’m sorry if driving half an hour down a motorway is just too difficult for you to manage, but single club, council owned stadiums aren’t getting any funding.

Penrith is owned by the league’s club isn’t it?
