That's great , couldn't be more clear to me that ANZ is the way to go.

Will provide be best of both worlds for big games & small alike.

I am an advocate for the Moore Park super-stadium plan originally mooted, but geez those ANZ mock ups look good.

I am terrified the government will half-ass it like they usually do though and we'll end up with something impractical again for years to come.

That stadium is lush, the design and roof would make it one of the world's best.

It would make footy trips to Sydney much more enjoyable.

Other than accommodating stadium clashes, why would you bother upgrading Pirtek if ANZ can provide a great atmosphere at smaller capacities? Spend that money on improving transport links to ANZ and/or building a 20,000 seater where the M2 meets the M7 (or Liverpool). I guess its all academic now with the Pirtek upgrade going ahead.

This is what the NRL and the clubs have agreed to:

1. Continued progress on the work to replace Parramatta Stadium of up to 35,000.
2. The reconfiguration and major investment in ANZ Stadium with a $600M-$700M investment to transform the seating arrangements, reducing its capacity to 72,000, creating a seating bowl to surpass Suncorp Stadium and new and improved customer facilities and services. This is a permanent rectangle.
3. That the ANZ investment follow the Parramatta Stadium works as the second priority for the NSW government
4. A refurbishment of Allianz stadium of $450M to overhaul the spectator experience, including revamped corporate facilities, providing a capacity of up to 42,000 and a new multi-story car park to be used for matches and for week-day city commuters accessing light rail. This will ensure that the NRL Central and Rugby League Museum is retained on its current site
5. A pool of $200M of capital funds to support suburban field enhancements and High Performance Centre Development in consultation with the clubs.

I cannot see Option 5 happening, but then again, the way that grub Ayres talks, then the lot will be thrown into the SCG Trust for the benefit of the AFL.

probably been his plan from day one seeing he used to play AFL and also work for them

one of the SCG trustees is also the GWS Chairman and would prefer if NRL games were kept out of the west

Why are you an advocate for Moore park?

Is it only the fear ANZ won't be done properly , or something else?

This is my thinking too.

But from a rugby league perspective you could take the $300m from Pirtek & the proposed $200m for local grounds and make 3 of the local grounds a pretty good standard , particularly for the teams that are far away from the main grounds.

But as you say it's likely too late for that.

That's going to create a ton of internal space behind the new seating once they take the existing seating comes out- hopefully they utilise it takes build some nice bar and entertainment facilities. The stadium in Wellington has a great bar setup in a similar position behind the stands.

Keep some of the seating bewlow the new stand and build a Jai alai court.

I agree on all accounts.

Wonder why they didnt do a plan for the North and South end as they propose but leave L4 and L6 as is

Just remodel the lower tier on the East and West side

Trying to bring the upper decks forward reduces capacity and increases the costs on a big way

Have you sat in the upper decks? You need binoculars, it's miles from the action. Viewing should be good from all areas.

I'd say you'd have a really uneven & akward stadium.

But what you suggest is probably a fallback option if they only get $400m in funding.
