Kogarah already half done so most likely will get the full extension as for win stadium its days are number as government want to sell it off to developers. It's prime real estate so the stadium will eventually be demolished for tourism operators.
Wow! Didn't know that. I wonder what the future of games in the gong are then. Build a new stadium? Pro-sport abandons the area altogether?

Who cares. Like I have said numerous times before, I don't care about return on dollar investment when it comes to rectangular stadiums. It's about we the sporting public getting a bit of cream and fat for once and and being the beneficiaries of Gov largesse. If there is a rort to be had I want us the regular people to get it. Sick of having to make a case for it when Gov officials and all their mates are milking the system continually.

Besides f**k this user pays model we have gone down. Part of Governments role is to build utilities and infrastructure that otherwise aren't economically viable and wear the cost by doing so. It isn't our fault that they keep selling the farm and then cry poor. STOP SELLING OUR ASSETS AND GET BACK OUR RESOURCES YOU ARSEH*LES!

Build 100 rectangular stadiums all over the country. We will only be a better sporting nation for it. Build, Build, build.
Agreed! The AFL push for new facilities all the time and don't seem to care about not having more than one tenant or use cases. They just care than their AFL team has a ground to play at.

No love for the NRL building a Liverpool/Rossmore stadium?

I think Rossmore would be too close to Penrith, but I guess there are some plans laying around Macquarie St with a train station there as part of servicing the new airport.

My biased view would be that perhaps the NRL could partner with Campbelltown City Council to improve / replace Campbelltown Stadium for Wests Tigers and Macarthur Bulls.

I expect the dogs would shun it though. Perhaps they can keep using BankWest and/or Olympic stadium.

In response, Easts would have died a death without UncleNick pouring dollars into the team, with the lack of real support etc he has kept the Chooks alive.

Strangely Roosters couldn’t get anyone to basically sign the back of the Leagues Club door until the front of shirt sponsorship changed. Where it comes from is a moot point for all clubs, at least the League’s club is actually set up to support and fund the game.

Golf anyone 😜

Yeah Arthur Beetson, Ron Coote, Elwyn Walters, Ian Schubert, John Brass (to name a few) all signed after 1976 which is when City Ford took up sponsorship of the Roosters and when Nick Politis first became involved with the club.

As such don't talk rubbish about stuff you have NFI about, as on how the Roosters are funded you have NFI at all.

the GF & other games .. SOO sellout regardless
so not as important as getting the 100 plus club games in sydney at the venues they need to be at to attract bigger crowds
I think there are about 40k fans who go to GFs and SOO who we want to turn into regular club game attendees. You want them walking away talking about only positives but one of the first things they do talk about is how they couldn't even recognize the players they were so far away.

500 million won't get it in any shape to improve the .. i can hardly see the players issue.
it was going to cost 800 million just to bring the ends in

for 500 mill?
don't bother

not that theres no love , it should be the govt building it tho
The NRL shouldn't commit the comp & codes $$ for a venue that will really only be used by 2 of its clubs

It'd become a much needed asset. After Billions of $'s Tv money in last decade the game still has nothing to its name. Its spent its future fund, its closed down part of its digital arm and has little tangible asset. Hopefully it turns some profit with 2, potentially 3 tenants. I'm sure if the business case doesn't stack up they wouldn't invest in it.

it doesn't stack up , a 300 million dollar loan to build it & upkeep would be a mill stone around the codes neck

Depends on what the new Tv deal is and the NRL's projected revenue/surplus. Could have it paid off in a decade or so if they get their finances sorted. Plenty of clubs around the world build and own their own stadiums for their singular usage. Maybe if rent was low but NRL kept % of gate they might get involved in actually marketing the game and fill it!

you mean european soccer clubs & NFL clubs owned by arab & russian billionaires. We don't have that here .. the interest bill alone would start at around 15 million per year ( interest & principal 30m) , leaving in lean years nothing for grass roots development etc

its a dog of an idea

The Northern Beaches and the North Shore are different places, geographically and culturally.

The team is called Manly-Warringah, and that's where they should play.
f**k all that... this is about building a new stadium, if they are pushing to build a purpose built stadium for the dogs of canterbury and the tigers of "Wests" Ashfield in Liverpool, then building a Northern Suburbs Stadium, next to a trainline for the only team north of the bridge surely is the better idea, than "lipstick on a pig brookvale"....
Hell the newly entering club "The Dolphins" is also a geographically beaches area, but they are playing upto 7 home games at Suncorp basically 40 mins inland... yet manly fans travelling 10 mins west to killara is not on...please

up to 7?

they're playing all their games at suncorp , we are not starting up a 2nd franchise in brisbane to play at an 11K capacity stadium in the burbs

The AFL own the Docklands Stadium. It helped them get through Covid because they had a tangible asset worth hundreds of millions to put up as collateral when they applied for loans.

Does this kill off this location for a Liverpool stadium? Isn't this where the Bulldogs own the land?

Yes well that's why they aren't called redcliffe, brisbane or Moreton bay dolphins, read the fine print pal, its been floating around for 2 years now, its also why news ltd prefer this bid over the "firehawks" coz they would have just been a direct rival, the dolphins are a SEQ rival, not a Brisbane one. The NRL aren't looking to create overpopulated teams in cities anymore, the dolphins are like a St.George-Illawarra to the Roosters as opposed to a South Sydney to the Roosters.
They'll be at suncorp for 7, redcliffe for 3-4 and sunshine coast for 1-2, servicing the northern corridor of SEQ, i wouldn't be suprised if 5 years from now they do the same with the cowboys.... (Cairns)
