The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

And we don’t own it, have to pay rent on it and get a fraction of the revenue for its use that our own could offer.
don't need to own it , we only pay rent when using it which is not often as the clubs use it mainly , don't need to upkeep it which down the track could be a considerable bill on top of loan repayments.

Bad idea at this stage.
not smart at all

Do you understand the benefits of building an asset base?

Wests need the NRL to tell them where to play, they can't make the decision for themselves.

If they have 12 homes games i reckon 9 at Campbelltown and 3 at Leichhardt, if they have a home game against Parramatta play it at Bankwest.
I love the atmosphere at Leichhardt and it is a great ground viewing wise but 3 game maximum there and have Campbelltown as their main home ground.

The Wests Tigers virtually lose money playing at either Leichhardt or Campbelltown. Whjy you ask? Simple, lack of corporate facilities. Like it or not the revenue is in corporate sales, not gate receipts - not unless ticket prices were raised quite a bit.

Campbelltown should be one of the stadiums that should be getting redone, the bones are already there but with what would be two full time residents there ( West Tigers and Macarthur FC ) it should be ahead of a lot of the other stadium upgrades. My mate who is on the board of UTS loves the games at Leichhardt but he says as everyone already knows that the corporate facilities there are appalling.

Neither are looking like getting a serious upgrade so they need to pick one of the stadiums in Sydney. Just one. It's been 22 years, it's beyond ridiculous.
And to show their stupidity, they have a home game v parra next year and it's not being held at Commbank.

Campbelltown should be one of the stadiums that should be upgraded but as you say there isn't any plans currently for an upgrade even though it was mentioned a few years ago with the Macarthur FC being a tenant there. If there is a major upgrade in Campbelltown that should be the West Tigers home base but there still have to be 1 or 2 games at Leichhardt but no more. What makes it even more confusing is the centre of excellence is being built at Concord Oval which would be Wests main training ground, which is fairly close to the main leagues club at Ashfield and also fairly close to Leichhardt Oval.

I don't see how Wests would lose much money at Campbelltown given it has pretty similar corporate facilities to Penrith and Kogarah.

It probably has the best location as well, right next to the train station and with plenty of room for expansion. Much better than the Liverpool site anyway.

very few ex balmain fans from that area travel to campbelltown to watch the tigers , similarly few ex wests fans in the Macarthur area go to leichardt
the club has a big supporter base but theres a definite divide due to geography

not sure how its fixed
not even really sure a stadium in liverpool would do it

I live in newtown and its only about 45 mins to get to Cambo on the train. Not that bad at all. I don't think Liverpool is the answer. Half way between almost everyone satisfies no one

Campbelltown council charges the club a decent amount to play games there (compared to Macarthur FC who pay just $1 per year). A minimum number of tickets need to be sold before the club breaks even. So with limited corporate seating, it currently isn't financially viable under the current deal.

The club needs to renegotiate a better arrangement, but without adding a significant number extra games, I don't see the council budging on the current one.

45 mins each way on the train is enough to deter a lot of fans except maybe for when the tigers are going busters. same in reverse going the other way.
otherwise both lots of fans will only frequent games in their area

if that is true thats an utter outrage
just because the soccer team couldn't fill a phone box with their crowds & therefore probably couldn't afford to pay what the tigers do is not a reason to fleece the tigers

Time to play hardball with those clowns in the campbelltown council
6 at LO & 1 at ANZ & 5 at bankwest
unless you charge us what those sokker wombats are paying

Ive always wondered if the corps chose to go to LO/Bankwest or Homebush over campbo. When I lived in Sydney I went every to every game at Campbo because that where the magpies played. When they merged and

moved some games to Homebush i just went there and only occasionally when to Cambo.
Things might change if they ever decided on one ground.

Especially when you can just wait a couple of weeks to get to a closer game.

Haha the horror of having to travel 45mins ten times a year to support your club. Weak as.
