To allow for 15k of members seating

It’s only 8k.

And it could be worked around in a number of ways.

Trust by laws only says someone is guaranteed entry, not a seat. Given the average turn out is probably much lower than 8k, you could have a standing area for any overflow.

Sorry guys, can someone explain to me why we need ANZ redeveloped? I don't like it either but I don't want $2billion of NSW money to be spent on redoing this behemoth.

Because it has no purpose other than for rectangular codes. The oval codes that wanted it in its current configuration have abandoned it anyway (Cricket/VFL).

After the Olympic circus has passed through town most of these purpose built stadiums around the world either get demolished or sit in ruin. It's nothing unusual. The likes of Fitzsimmons are stirring up fake controversy for clicks because they work for a dead medium. Just do a quick search of Fairfax layoffs.

Because ANZ was not built for Rectangular sports.
And alot of stadiums world wide see proper roofs as a luxury.

With ANZ, couldn’t the lower bowl have been built with a steeper incline to facilitate a better conversion to a rectangular stadium later?

Maybe. But it wasnt. It was built for the Olympics. Not rectangular sports. (Despite El Diablos whinges about it.) and when it was redeveloped and capacity reduced the last time, money talked and it stayed multi purpose.
Cheaper to knock it down and rebuild a proper rectangular stadium than it is to redevelop it again.

that rectangular sport Soccer was played there during the Olympics

there were also numerous games of RL, RU and a game of NFL played there before the Olympics

they got awfully lucky seeing you think rectangular sports were never factored into the design of the stadium

what we do know is that when it was constructed it was impossible to play VFL or Cricket there
