Nrl has to have skin in the game on this if it wants to sustain the Sydney current club spread. A southern stadium for sharks and dragons should be a priority alongside support for manly and Penrith for major upgrades or rebuilds. Hard thing is Govt is highly unlikely to throw any money at it given the stadium spend and media beat up around it. C’wealth Govt might be best hope but sco mo will be gone next year.

Why the f**k would cronulla want to move from the ground they own? And the game day revenue increase the leagues club would be a fair bit you’d have to think, moving away they would lose that. Cronulla is the one suburban ground that’s actually not in huge disrepair and makes complete financial sense to remain at. Same as St George at Kograh.

Move to the new SFS once the Northern Beaches Link is completed. Combined with the Light Rail it should make getting there easier from the Beaches. Best answer moving forward.

Brookvale isn't getting improved any time soon and the Beaver and Jane Try Stands will probably be condemned in a decade or so.

Yep he has no idea.Game day money does indeed flow to not only the football club but the Licensed club.The latter is the next in line to be completely refurbished, with new restaurants and bistros etc on two floors.ATM the Licensed club is looking very old inside.Doesn't stop beer or food sales on game day and other days.

Not to this NSW Government. Their view is "the local councils own those grounds, not us, so they can maintain them we won't do the job for them". Stuart Ayres can be rather willful that way.

An easier sell to the public is what I meant.

Plus I think this govt is on the road to an election loss now. 12 months ago I thought they’d win another term, but to me it looks like the bad perception has set in. Hard to recover from here.

The ideal situation would be if Manly could somehow get a decent ground in Chatswood. Close enough to Northern Beaches but with good transport from elsewhere.

I've mentioned this before but we suck at basing teams in the right spot.

Setting aside the mergers for the moment:
Manly should be based in Chatswood
Cronulla should be at Sutherland
St George at Hurstville
Balmain at Strathfield
Canterbury at Bankstown

All massive transport hubs and mini CBDs.

But now with the mergers Tigers best bet is Campbelltown or Liverpool. Bulldogs still Bankstown or Liverpool at a stretch. Dragons Wollongong.

Sharks are ok at Cronulla given they own the ground but Manly are the biggest basket case. SFS and Gosford are too far and Manly too remote. Chatswood would be the ideal but never going to happen.

That actually looks pretty damn good. I wonder if the SCG will get an update after the new SFS is done. Going to be an awkward sight of a new modern rectangular stadium next to the rustic cricket stadium.

Nah it needs rain.I remember almost learning how to swim fully clothed underwater, when I got well and truly drenched at a SOO there. I was in one of the better mid way seats.Some gringo behind me, used his umbrella to funnel water down by neck. Massoud style.
Turned me off spending loot there, if it looked like rain.

Wouldn’t call all of the SCG rustic. Has two very large, very new stands.

But there’s definitely a wish from the SCG trust to complete the whole thing.

Looks pretty good but no mention of the club mode, that would’ve been a big plus for the NRL.
