The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Agree, but how do you justify upkeep and maintenance on a massive, aging stadium that is empty 360 days each year? Reckon it would end up being bulldozed. Is it such a big deal if you only have 42K at a GF or SOO? Best thing the NRL could do it to move the GF around.
we are never going to lockout 40K fans out of our GF or SOO, or RWC finals .. big soccer matches etc
it will eventually be upgraded
the only bulldozing done , will be when it is upgraded or replaced.

I think those rivers of gold that the Sharks were expecting have dried up, they sold their rights for any percentage of the development at Woolooware, and any rental income from the retail area associated for $40 million, of which $20 million has to go to the redevelopment of the leagues club.
The only revenue stream the Sharks MAY have, is that they purchased to Kareela Golf, for around $5 million, and now run it as a licensed club, however it remains to be seen as to whether this is a profitable venture.
The remainder of any money they have, would be lucky to be earning 1.5% interest.
The golf club land is worth around $12M.
Further acquisitions coming too. Stay tuned.

Do they own the golf club or the clubhouse? I thought it was a council owned golf club.
They own the golf club not just the clubhouse.
Purchased for 4M, developer valued at approximately 12M although no plans to do anything with it right now. Future proofing the club.

Penrith getting a new 25-30k stadium for one regular tenant, with little to no hope of any others any time soon, has to be the biggest joke.

It has future white elephant written all over it, and frankly it stinks of pork barrelling like the QCB Stadium. That's modern politics for you though; it's not about the best outcomes for the people, it's all about what's best for getting re-elected and the palms that are greased along the way.

Good luck to the Panthers though, don't hate the player hate the game, and all that.

Great news for panthers fans if true. Always suspect when it’s unnamed sources ‘in the know‘ but rare there is smoke without fire. Sure as nsw tax payers if you’re not a RL fan it is very questionable use of public money, but as nrl fans it’s great news for the game in the west of Sydney.

Goes with all the infastructure spend.

They annouced a 3rd CBD for Sydney 30 mins from Penrith etc

Surely wont pass the business case stage unless im missing something,
is this part of sydney a pivitol swinging seat critical to the next election ?
Single tennent grounds who will pretty much remain single tennent after these significant funds are spent on them is a gross misuse of public funds.

You think there was a stink after the last lot of plans were announced , wait til this is revealed " officially " as the plan. Labor & Peter Fitzmoron will have a field day.
Brookvale makes even less sense.

these ideas are a big
yeah

nah

If the upgrade happens to Penrith, the running of the venue will fall to VenuesNSW, just like it did for Wollongong, Parramatta and Newcastle.

As such, I don't see them struggling to get 20+ events a year at the venue, they already get more than that to WIN Stadium and it only has half an NRL team and not much else.

The likes of the NRL, FFA and Rugby Australia will find content to take there as well, simply as they know how valuable their deals with VenuesNSW are.

Anyway, let's see if it gets announced. From an NRL crowd perspective, it is a great pick, Penrith are the type of club that could average 20K+ rather comfortably in a new venue, which is what the game needs to bring back up the averages.

World Cups yes. WC Qualifiers those sort of games are usually a few days apart.

Easy to get 20 uses a year
20 I think is a stretch and even if it does get 20, that's worth the money in your opinion?

The new SFS will probably average close to 1 event a week.
