Based on trip advisor ratings..... lol.
Yes not very scientific lol. Mind you the atmosphere at SL grounds is ten times that of NRL stadiums so it papers over the inferior quality of the stadia somewhat. Bath coming on top is a laugh given its only got 1/2 a covered stand, bet its a lot of fun in winter watching the rugger boys kicking the ball to each other for 90 mins!

What's the go with the Penrith upgrade? Is RL going to see any of the 5bn announced by the state govt today that will be spent in Western Syd?

This was the latest from a couple of weeks ago

Stadium announcement still coming

COVID-19 appears to have delayed any announcement about the likely re-build of Panthers Stadium, but the Office of Sport says its plan to upgrade venues across Sydney remains in play.

“The NSW Government is committed to the renewal and revitalisation of suburban grounds across Sydney which will create valuable community assets that can be used for sports, cultural and entertainment purposes,” a spokesperson said.

“The final business case must demonstrate that the redevelopment of facilities benefits the community as a whole, supports the NSW Government’s objectives and presents value for money for NSW taxpayers.”

Announcements could still be made before the end of the year.

the atmosphere might be better but the weather (in QLD at least) and the facilities (in QLD at least...)more than make up for it. That St. helens stadium looks nice but a bit flat pack IKEA compared to say this

If NRL was smart, they’d arrange Sydney teams vs NQ / GC matches to be distributed to places like Cairns, Rockhampton, Mackay, Sunshine Coast etc after doing deals with Qld govt / local councils / tourism boards etc.

Hull KR has this season introduced a food and drink 'street' area on one side of the stadium that opens 90mins before games and runs until a couple of hours afterwards. Looks a great way to get fans more engaged and spending their money. Would be great to see an entertainment village set up at NRL grounds so you can make it more of an event and night out than just a game to watch then go home or somewhere else. Especially somewhere like SFS

But as sydney home games played in QLD? Maybe, atleast take 1 to a regional, and the other to magic round

Has to be worth their while though and not many councils can afford to be stumping up $300k a game to host NRL matches. The club lose on membership value, wining and dining their corporates and often smaller gates so the compensation has to be pretty significant.

Well they sydney teams generally lose out hosting those 2 teams, due to the lack of away fans attending, so a road trip to country QLD could break even or get more due to the council stumping up the game,
I think it makes sence for NQ, and similar thing can be done for the Warriors in NZ

As I said only only if around $300k is on the table. Generally crowds at these regional venues are sub 12k. The club also has to sell memberships and sponsorships cheaper as the fans/companies aren't getting full quota of home games. Its worth it if they can get councils/state Govts to stump up the cash but otherwise it isn't good business.

Yeah even Vonny on NRL360 mentioned next years Grand Final will be held at the new SFS. Seriously how stupid are they.
i think everyones wires are crossed with elements of the old stadium plan still in play , that being that ATM ANZ was supposed to be being refurbed too & wouldn't be in play til the middle of 2023
We were supposed to have the 2021 GF at the SCG , the 2022 GF at the new SFS & the 2023 one at the new ANZ.

of course thats all changed , but the press are still reporting bits of it
its hilarious

It's a shame we couldn't have rebuilt Stadium Oz at Homebush to 80 000 capacity into a true rectangular stadium, a bit like the Bernabeau in Madrid which is also currently undergoing a rebuild.
There's still another level to be added to the stand at the right. Capacity will be just under Stadium Oz, at 81 000, but not a bad seast in the house and even the highest seats ware much closer than Stadium Oz.
This is the sort of international stadium we need in Sydney.

Hopefully they wont touch ANZ and will build another bankwest somewhere in Sydney for now. Then when the state and country are flush with cash we can build the $2billion national stadium that Australia needs.
