Brookvale
one eastern side grand stand that can hold about 10K people , so a few levels. That would compliment the current south stand , the 2 on the west & the new north stand & up the capacity to about 22K all seated.
100 million should see a good stand built

Kogarah
Similar altho it needs it stand to extend down the eastern hill & around the sthn hill to the western stand.
about 15K seats. Maybe roof the nthn open stand , maybe not. 22K seats
Id bring the eastern stand in as much as possible to " rectangularise " the place a bit as kogarah is a bit too oval for mine.
150 Million should get a good result , maybe 170 million with a roof on the nth stand.

Sharks & shark park ... nothing . they won't play ball with anyone so they can rot in their dump.

Liverpool
A 25K seat bankwest style venue ... nothing less.
tigers & dogs sorted.
300 Million

Penrith
as above
300 million

We're sorted , 850 to 900 million to get everyone happy & most home fan bases not having to travel far to home games in sydney

Manly @ new brookie
Roosters & Bunnies @ new SFS
Sharks as is
Dragons @ new kogarah & WIN
Parra @ Bankwest
Penrith @ new Penrith park
Tigers & Dogs @ new liverpool venue ( tigers 3 games at Leichardt )

Parra , Tigers & Dogs all able to move big block busters to ANZ when applicable

all week one finals in Sydney at clubs home ground
week 2 & after , at either ANZ or the new SFS

As long as brookvale gets something, i feel thats enough, Penrith would be great, but its not urgent, tigers and dogs in liverpool is a must, but i hear it wont be larger than 22k, due to the space the land that the dogs have there, agree on WIN stadium getting any upgrade nessesary in regards to dragons over kogarah, simply baffles me that they don't play there at WIN 9 home games minimum

A new bankwest for Tigers and dogs at Liverpool should be the next major build imo presuming they both commit full time to it. This should be the priority above sticking lipstick on pigs. Around $280-300mill.

Ideally we'd see Brookvale get the hbf park treatment with a major new stand to replace the sideline grass hill and get capacity up to 25k ish seated undercover with new big screens, new led lighting and better fan facilities.
With the new 3,000 seater stand currently under construction that would give them a half decent 4 sided stadium all seater. Probably around $120mill needed going off HBF park costs

Sharks have no money for upgrades so they are going to need some help, even it is just to start by upgrading the end grass hill. Their developments have limited what you can actually do to shark park so not sure what else can be done there. Around $30mill

Penrith could do with a new stadium but hard to justify $250mill plus for 10-11 games a year of sport there. Same with Dragons who play even less games at their stadiums.

In the ideal world where tribalism didnt trump strategy youd be spending the $1billion on three new stadiums:

Southern Stadium for Dragons and Sharks (and future Aleague)
SW Stadium for Dogs and Tigers and Aleague
Better located Northern stadium for rebranded Sea Eagles and Warratahs

For Sydney to end up with SFS and four 30k Bankwest quality stadiums for the majority of teams would be a great outcome.

The northern end of shark park has power lines directly above it, not sure much more can be done at that end, the western side though is in need of a Wollongong West stand. Build that and it's fine for club footy.

Manly needs to knock that bucket of shit Southern stand down and build something that wraps around and replaces the eastern hill. Get the capacity up around 20-22k and it would be perfect.

who said it'll be a sub 25K seat venue.
It'll be 25K minimum, maybe a bit bigger.
The government did. In fact it came straight from Andrew Barr's mouth...
A new Canberra Stadium in Civic might have a capacity of 20,000 or less: ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr

Besides, 25k is too small as well. It really needs to be 30k or near enough to it, otherwise the city is going to quickly outgrow it.
Civic is the only place they're talking about regularly because thats where its going to be built. Civic has more restaurants & bars then all the other town centres combined not to mention hotels & all manor of accomodation & despite the weird way canberra was designed is still the central hub for the entire city. The lack of parking etc is also a furphy as civic hosts far larger events annually then 25K at a football game , like sky fire & floriade.
Its going to be built in civic.
Floriade's attendance doesn't have as large an impact on the city at any one time as the football would, and one of the main areas people park during Floriade would be built over by the stadium as well. Have you actually been to the city during Sky Fire? It's simply not sensible or feasible to have that level of traffic in the city every other week during the football season unless more parking is built.

It's not just parking either, other infrastructure would have to be built/improved and the pool site, and Civic more broadly, simply doesn't have space for all of it.

All the other city centres have accommodation, restaurants, pubs and clubs, entertainment, transport links, etc, and more would quickly pop-up around a stadium once it was built.

why would Vlandys address the first renege it had nothing to do with him , & until its confirmed there will be no suburban stadiums then we won't know how Vlandys will react.
He may have to do nothing as they may still be built
You really have no understanding of leverage or negotiating tactics...

I wouldn't be against Woden as a location. There is more space (than civic) at either Edison Park or the fumbleball ground in Phillip... Barr would never replace a fumbleball ground with a rectangle stadium though.

Woden is reasonably central and will eventually have tram access, a few clubs and plenty of restaurants and parking. Certainly a better option than upgrading Bruce or going out to NATEX.

re: Tigers - the Bulls and the A-League are committing to an upgrade of Campbelltown Stadium, so it's only logical that we stick solid with the Campbelltown venue and help it further prosper.

Penrith and Brookvale will be announced by the end of the year. The new stadium at Liverpool for dogs and tigers was expected to be announced after that but there will be some doubts as to whether that goes ahead.

Other than that there won't be much more for a while. Cronulla have their own plan for Shark Park. The Dragons won't get much more for Kogarah but its facilities are already reasonanble. Certainly the best of the surburban grounds. Future upgrades should be focused on Wollongong.

That covers it all really.
Government already committed 3 million towards planning off Kogarah so they will be 1st up towards upgrades

Then don't.

Put the rectangular stadium on top of Edison park, then sometime down the track replace Phillip oval with an oval stadium.

You could even knockdown the Phillip Swimming & Ice Skating Centre (it's on it's last legs anyway) and build a little arena to replace the AIS Arena on that plot. That way you'd have all the major sports infrastructure in the one spot which would make managing it all easier and turn Woden into a hot spot which would ease pressure and congestion in Civic.

Obviously I'm just brainstorming, but I think there's lots of merit to these sorts of ideas.

Barr's an idiot , a mumbling afl loving public servant halfwit ... probs a bit like yourself. He should have been thrown out of office years ago & the under current of dissatisfaction with his leadership in Canberra is growing. Of course the fumbelball loving twat will talk down the new stadium because he knows what an advantage it will be for the other codes. Woden is a wasteland compared to civic. Have you seen Adelaide avenue on any morning or afternoon at peak hour , its a car park. Same with Athlon drive & Hindmarsh

Woden lol
yeah sure

What's wrong buttercup? It's called discussion and sharing of ideas. You could join in if you like... or you could continue to be a twat.

Govt wont build a stadium without tenants. They wont build one in the hope of one day getting an NRL club, especially given our current chairmans comments. They spent $125mill on HBF Park stadium in 2011 thinking it would lead to a club, it didn't. No way they are, or should, spend $300mill in the hope of NRL one day committing to growth!

HBF park is half way there already and they are about to spend a further $35mill on some upgrades including
  • replacing the halogen lights with a shift to modern LED lighting;
  • upgrading the pitch through removal, levelling and turf replacement;
  • new player races and bench areas; and
  • upgrades to the existing power supply, including a new switch room.
View attachment 54986Still needs a new corporate western stand and the shed end sorting and it will be a very nice 25-30k stadium well serviced by public transport and a short walk from Perths nightlife area. It would be lovely to think we would get a new Bankwest quality stadium next to Optus stadium but in reality it wont happen given they have spent $150mill plus already so we need to lobby to get HBF park finished off.

I do agree though that the NRL should be saying to Perth Govt whilst we have a RL man in charge with a $5bill surplus in his pocket, finish HBF Park and fund a HQ/CofE for NRLWA/new club and you'll get a team in 2025!

Or give us a Bank West style stadium and fund a HQ/CofE for NRLWA/new club and you will have a team in 2025.

Oh Governments spend and waste money all the time, no different here mate.

You mean we don't want to play games at another stadium, that fans have shown they won't attend.

They're well within their right to want to play at their home ground that they own.

Same as telling another club to play somewhere and they're entitled to decline.

Won't happen - would be a white elephant! Wollongong is the Dragons future and Sharks and their fans refuse to go to that dump of a stadium. The $3 million was just to make it official and take the option away!
