no not really, It's morally excepted now, That Commi's are good....

That is not what I meant.

Communism is an extreme ideology. I don’t see how Labor are communist - they are left of centre sure but even then they are nowhere near as left as what they used to be pre Hawke Keating (and even in that time you would call them socialist-lite)

masterplan for the Newcastle stadium precinct finally released, including an entertainment centre right next to the stadium (where the paceway is now), a restaurant precinct, a hotel, water park and and over 2,000 new homes. Will no doubt include some refurbishment for the stadium we might actually get a proper big screen.

If Australia bid for the 2030 FIFA Men's World Cup and were successful there maybe some new grounds and serious upgrades to others that would be used for training purposes.

New Zealand could be a co-host as they are for the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2023 although they have only one ground currently that meets the minimum capacity criteria.

48 countries will be competing from 2026 onwards - 8 groups of 6 teams

Stadiums must have a capacity of at least 40,000, stadiums hosting quarter-finals must have a minimum of 60,000 and those hosting the opening ceremony or final must have a capacity of at least 80,000.

Grounds with 40k and above capacity in both Australia and New Zealand

Adelaide oval - 53,000
Suncorp - 52,500
SCG- 48,000
Allianz- 45,500
Gabba - 42,000
Marvel - 53,359
Homebush - 83,500
MCG- 100,024
Perth Stadium - 60,000
Waverley Park- 72,000
Eden Park (NZ) - 50,000

Newcastle is fine as it is and really at best needs 50 to 100 mill to do either ends

real shame they never got a ground in the actual cbd but many rugby league grounds aren’t in the town centres

If AUS/NZ put in a joint bid, do you see Perth and Adelaide being included? Just thinking distance and time zones from Auckland to Perth is massive

As per my same reply in the TV discussion thread:

Waverley hasn't been in use since 1999/2000. Most of the grandstands have been removed and it's now surrounded by housing. The remaining grandstand seats about 200. So strike that off the list.
Link: Waverley Park

There is the beginnings of the push to rebuild the Shane Warne / Great Southern Stand at the MCG to push the capacity up over 105,000.

Hey mate. If we ever got it they would pick 8 regions I reckon. Play the group matches and leave the final 16 to two or three. So perhaps this way.

WA
Qld
Vic
NSW
SA
North Island
South Island

Maybe NSW or QLD might split another group as well

The stadium is really central. In Newcastle “CBD” doesn’t really mean the same thing as Sydney or Melbourne.

The master plan is for the whole precinct. I don’t expect the stadium will get much if anything.

the number of teams are expanding aren’t they? Will need a lot of stadiums.
Wasn’t sure if distance and time zones would be a factor which is why I thought east coast AUS and North/South NZ if it’s a combined hosting effort. I have no idea of course, was just wonder if it would be an issue because Perth and NZ are so far apart.
