The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

We should have been more proactive with the last Labor mob. We sold away our support for the yes vote on gay marriage! Even got that white US rapper on the biggest NRL game to perform. Had the first openly gay footballer.

Come to think of it, we had the first indigenous Australian team captain and an overrepresentation in indigenous players. No crowd boos, an indigenous round and an indigenous all stars.

We'll sell away our support for the referendum as well.

We might live in the moral high ground, but is on struggle street, next to the decaying of surburbian stadia.

Labor wasn't in power in NSW nor Federally during the SSM postal survey.

1. We're not America with large stadiums in large cities. We have one rectangular stadium that holds 800000, the next best is 52000.

2. Playing on ovals is a backward step.
As a poorly designed semi oval Accor is no better than Optus, in fact for the experience Optus is far far better than Accor.

Come on PR. This is just a silly post.

Optus is a brilliant stadium for round field sports. While Accor isn't the best stadium, the viewpoint from the lower bowl sideline is far better than any viewpoint available for rectangular field sports at Optus (even with their lil temp stands that they pull out). I'd argue that level 4 sideline at Accor is also better.

Level 6 at Accor you might be viewing from the moon, but top tier of a round bowl stadium and you're viewing from Pluto.

we get these pockets of natural growth but then do nothing to capitalize on it (of course in Ukraine's there's not much that can be done about that)

the fact we still don't have a set in stone international calendar is another example of failing to capitalize on growing the game, there's always talk but rarely sustained action, its bloody frustrating
Nrl lost ground domestically due to super league whilst afl kept expandingy

you’re right but even the lower bowl at homebush is crap

I had centreline seats which are just below the coaches boxes and you’re still way too far from the action

if you go to homebush no matter the seat your watching a big part of the game on the screen

I think if you check on the matches between countries in Europe ,there is a lot more going on( yes not huge).SAnd bear in mind limited funding available from INTNL rl coffers.
I mean even Turkey has women's and men's rugby league, Greece is back in action, Netherlands, Norway,Serbia.Nigeria Ghana in Africa. All organic growth.
I'm as frustrated as the next person ,but you need plenty of money to really give these countries a lift.Until the code has deep pockets it will be a long drawn out process.

I agree that Accor is terrible when it's compared to true rectangular stadiums like Suncorp, Allianz, Commbank etc and even the lower bowl rake is poor. We need to remember that it was developed for the olympics after all. But yeah, the sideline at Accor is still far better than viewing RL at any circular stadium.

I'm talking overall, and tbh we sat mid height at the corner flag for origin at Optus and it was as good a view as when I was sat higher up similar position for the GF at Accor which felt miles back. The rake of the seats at Optus means that even though the sideline is obviusly further away the stand feels closer. And I wasnt just talking view, I was talking whole experience of the stadium. Its facilities, atmosphere, the amazing stuff they can do with the lights at Optus, food and drinks, toilets, transport to and from etc

To say RL isnt any good because a stadium is oval is nonsense when we are using Accor for our showcase.

Marvel is fine. The Storm v Parra final with 33k was terrific as was one of the early SOO games when they brought the stands in - the place was pumping. Level 2 in particular is close to the action.

"Western Parkland City" is the biggest load of property developer PR I've ever heard.

Are they still building the metro from St Marys to the new airport or did the new government cancel it?

IIRC, they said they want to review its business case so its mostly "on hold" I believe.

Edit: Oops, wrong line. Its the Bankstown Metro they were looking at. My bad :-(

That was a shit day for me.

Missed my original flight to Melbourne thanks to virgin stuffing us around at the baggage handlers then delayed getting through security.

So had to wait 11am that morning to get on the next flight.

Then a drunken Melbourne storm fan got into a fight with a parramatta one in the bay across.

Top it off we got beat.

Never again to Marvel after that haha.
