What $300 million bought us 5 years ago doesn't buy us the same now.
Yes, it's a shit load of money but the facilities will improve massively compared to what is there now.
Is it worth it? I think not, due to the amount of use the stadium gets.
But it will be a massive improvement to a Sydney suburban ground that we are all craving.
Let's wait for the finished product and make judgement then.
It's probably a better spend of the money than what the move to the horsey joint move would have been which would have cost a shite load more for not much more benefit.

I actually really like the way they've gone with this. Spent properly on the two main stands and left the southern and northern ends. It allows for staged capacity increases if they're needed. As seen with Manlys new stand, you can find ways for smaller capacity increases without having to make it a political issue. A nice 50mill southern stand and you're looking at 30k capacity already, could even work with their leagues club to partially finance it. If they're regularly getting 25k sellouts, it'll build itself.

If the Stadium was moved towards the oval it could eventually become a 30 35 thousand seated Stadium. Way its set up now cannot expand for population growth. So what lose a cricket oval to gain a stadium worthy off 1 million population.

I don't believe they're knocking down the eastern stand, just refurbishing it. Which makes it a bit difficult. At that point you may as well do a rebuild at the Paceway.

Think of the eastern stand as 2 separate stands. The lower stand will remain as is, albeit refurbished (new paint, chairs etc). Honestly the lower stand is fine, quite good views - this is where they can save some cash and is quite smart way to go about it. The real win here is the upper stand. It will be completely demolished and a brand new, much larger stand will be built in its place. This stadium was always going to be 25K as the outer Sydney stadium

I do like the 1st picture that was posted had a stage and is being sold as an Entertainment complex too, That is where the potential Paceway build failed

It can't. There is sewage pipes under the Hills, It is why a new location was proposed

Penrith's new upgrade does look similar to Newy and Mt.Smart with the two major grandstands. No doubt it will be an improvement. On the eastern side, it does seem as though that the bottom tier remains, and a second tier will be built. Kinda like the Anfield expansion, with the Anfield Road redevelopment.

The ground could improve overtime. It just needs more funding. It is still a good result for the game. At least we know where Penrith's home ground we be in the mid to long term. So the NRL has four stadiums in Sydney to rely on with Penrith, Commbank, Allianz and Accor. All operated by Venus NSW, along with Newy and Win.

That’s the best case scenario. Population growth and the generational fanbase growth that comes with dynasties getting a bunch of sell outs putting pressure on govts maybe even Panthers if they get a more favourable rental deal as a result. Then the cricket oval will have to be relocated maybe along with a portion of station st being adjusted so there’s room for a Southern grandstand and ample concourse room around it. Brings it up to 30k. Then if it continues we repeat with the northern end effectively ending ransley st as we know it.

There’s your 35k stadium.

All on our journey to taking Collingwood’s title of highest crowd average in Australia with 70k.

He's just jealous because Perth Rectangular Stadium is a shithole and doesn't have an NRL tenant.

Could you build a stand there with an upper tier that cantilevered over the road? Would only require enough space for the lower tier if you did that, and only need temporary road closures/diversions during construction.
