Leichhardt Oval nor Campbelltown have decent corporate facilities. The Tigers have known this for over 15 years. Heck going back to when Steve Noyce was the Tigers CEO, he stated publicly that the Tigers actually lost money when playing at those grounds as a consequence, as corporate types would not pay big money to attend games at those venues.

General ticket sales at those grounds does not cover the revenue forgone from lost corporate sales. If you doubt me, have a look at the clubs which are financially strong, they have better than average corporate facilities at the grounds they play at.

No. They moved to Accor as they were offered better financial terms to ;play there than the SCG Trust were willing to offer them to stay at the old SFS.

Blake Solly was the one who then locked South into staying there even after he knew that Accor would not be getting any upgrades.

Good, Accor is a void and no one should be playing regular club games there! Commbank is a lovely stadium with public transport and bars near by. It should have more than one NRl tenant, as should Allianz.

1999 I went to the spoon bowl at Campbo (NQ v Magpies) and a 18-19yr old lad and his slightly older sister were going toe to toe in the walkway above the eastern terrace.........their mum was trying to break it up. Also had a poor guy sitting sitting in the row in front of us have a full colostomy bag depart him onto the concrete steps.

It was an eventful afternoon.

A barebones temporary stadium in a bad location with shelter from the elements would still be more attractive to most than Bruce.

There's lots of potential options though if the Raiders were privately funding it. It'd really just be about finding a spot where the government would support it.

I'd target the western foreshore of lake Ginninderra in Belco or some of the dead space and Greenway oval in Tuggers personally. Both Belconnen and Tuggeranong are places that have the pre existing infrastructure you want and the space to support a stadium but are kind of out of sight out of mind and underutilised compared to the other town centres. No guarantee that the government would give the Raiders the ownership to either location though, and both have their own individual pros and cons.

If worst comes to worst they could look into building it over the Kippax fields next to Raiders Belconnen, which certainly wouldn't be an ideal location for a stadium, but this is intended as a stop gap solution after all. They'd need to build a large carpark there as well though.

That ship has sailed.

The fact that it's the location of the COE means they couldn't sell or develop the land to help recover some of their costs once they were done with the stadium. Besides, the government is quickly turning Civic into an inaccessible shithole anyway. Funny how that happens when you build over all the parking and teardown the public transport network in the vast majority of the city.

Tuggers and West Belco would be worse than Bruce and the one thing you'll never get in a temp set up is protection from the elements which would be a high priority in Canberra.

Our government has no idea. We're getting a soccer set up on the northern border and an ice hockey centre in the deep south. They're also talking about finally getting the palace at the AIS up to scratch. Why not build them all close by and get a pop up food van and brewery hub going.
