comparing 1995 to 2016
the mining boom had only just begun when the reds came in & the population make up of Perth was quite different to now , there are a lot more " easterners " & kiwis over there now with an obvious appetite for rugby league
I know many in here are just stirring perth red up , & hell knows he deserves it , but Perth is an obvious choice for the next round of expansion along with a 2nd brisbane side.

They were worse in the end.
They couldn't maintain crowds numbers.
The numbers dropped dramatically and quickly.
I've actually been through all this in here before and supplied stats.

Trying to manufacture a team in a place where rugby league is not popular is asking to lose money.

Perth. Is a 5 hour flight from Sydney and expensive.

Melb 1 hr flight and pretty cheap.

Storm have been in the comp over 20 years now.

2016 Grand Final
83000

How many Melb fans went?
Absolutely sweet f**k all.

One of the most successful teams on the field in modern history and they could not even make up a 1/4 of the crowd.

Would've been lucky to crack 5000 .

How many away fans do you think would be bothered to travel to Perth for a club game?

The time slot might be handy for TV but it will look like a ghost town .

Rugby league is a very small sport.
I watched a game from USA this year and literally nobody in the bar knew one thing about the game.
That was sharks v cowboys final.

You want another team?
Put it somewhere where it will be appreciated.
QLD - central coast maybe
Not f**king Perth it will fail miserably.
The point is, if you want to use crowd figures from 1995-97 to prove Perth shouldn't have a team in 2018, then Penrith, Souths and even the Bulldogs shouldn't have teams either because their crowds at that time were no better or even worse than Perth's. And to argue against Perth due to the SL era and at the same time advocate a second Brisbane team without looking at the Crushers in the same way, or Central Coast and ignoring the Northern Eagles experience only emphasises the stupidity of the argument. Of course the very idea that crowd figures from the mid 90s have any relevance now is ridiculous.

I'm only using the evidence.
Northern eagles you say.

Yes
Manly relocated into the central coast
Who thought that would work?
Not me.

Just like a team artificially made for Perth.
Mainly Only expat rugby league town fans are going to get on board .
Realistically fans from other clubs won't be farked going over there.

You tell me
Qld team or a WA team?
Which one would be better supported?

Personally I don't think we need anymore teams.
Plenty already being bailed out by the NRL.

Tigers
Dragons
Storm
Knights
Titans

All struggling.

I used the storm fans piss poor GF attendance to point out how 20 years in a non rugby league city has done sweet f**k all to grow the game there.

Of course you don't because like all backward, selfish, shallow, club-centric fans you don't actually want RL to grow because it would leave your suburban team behind. The NSWRL bailed Cronulla out once upon a time, just before it ran off to super league.

Perth would bring NEW supporters to the sport. That's the point. And hopefully much more open-minded ones.

If we had a competent administration that actually grew the sport we'd have a team from Perth and a second Brisbane side by now.

He supports a small suburban club, is itbsny wonder he doesn't want another big city club coming in? He is also more fixated on Perth not getting a team than I am them getting one lol.

Still waiting an answer on where sharks are getting theses many tens of millions to do up their antiquated ground?

And yet soo in Melbourne drew more than Sydney (see how choosing one off stats can make any argument?)

Given storm have had bigger crowds than sharks for last few years seems a strange choice of club to use as your example!

Haha
Wake up
I just used the storm as the perfect example as to why a Perth team won't work ( again).
They are in a much much much tougher situation to the storm because they are so isolated and in a shit time zone for viewing other NRL games.

20 years of the storm and pretty much no difference in crowds.
I'd say there were more storm fans at the GF v Dragons in 99 compared to this year.

You can spit your dummy out about my teams history all day long but it won't change the reality of this.
Crying about admin on here does zero.
You reckon they need to grow the game .
Ok
How would you do it?
Don't forget people in these fR flung places don't give a shit about rugby league.

Answer this then

This forum would be the biggest rugby league forum on the internet.

How man western Australian based rugby league fans get on here ?

Perth is a 1 exhibition game a year city .
That's all it will ever be.

So they should
A one state team held up by the NRL.

And so the excuses come, no one in Melbourne cares yet they have bigger crowds than Cronulla where presumably you think everyone cares? You are very funny.

So they are more popular than the sharks because they are a one team town and nrl helps them out, bit like a future Perth club then :)

They hosted two this year.

Just in case you tried to slip one fact through that was actually true. Still batting at zero.

You saying it won't work or no one cares about RL in Perth means jack shit. You have no credibility to begin with and you're choice of "evidence" to back up your shit is laughable. Forum member numbers? FMD. For some reason I'm pretty sure the NRL won't use that criteria if they ever get their head out of their arse and look at expansion.

This is not actually about the sharks (2016 premiers after years of struggling & now finally making huge leaps forward)

I'm only pointing out how in reality the storm has achieved pretty much f**k all in 20 years of occupation in Victoria.
They should have huge crowds.
All this horseshit about centralised stadiums proves it.

So using that club as an indicator I'd say a Perth team would be an utter failure.

You are the only Perth based fan that even posts in here.
...and I'm guessing you weren't even here to witness the failure of the last Perth team.

Where on earth do you think they'll get enough players from to be even remotely competitive?

SL won't be paying journeymen astronomical wages to get them there next time.

Anyway
Up up Cronulla
2016

Truth hurts you.

Tigers will be gone before any Perth team ever gets a gig.

So you go on a NRL forum a use a tigers logo as you avatar and are suprised when people think you follow the tigers?

...and I'm geniused?

Good one genius.

Now tell me how you'd fix crowd numbers?
You're quick to bag out the "admin" for it.

It's a rugby league forum spastic. I'm not one bit surprised that you don't even consider the idea that rugby league exists outside the NRL. It still doesn't explain how the words "Eastern Suburbs" weren't a bit of a giveaway, but like I said, reading is overrated among the more intellectually challenged on here. I do follow the Tigers. Still don't understand that the Wests Tigers aren't the only rugby league club in the world with a tiger emblem? Is that too difficult as well?

Am I geniused or spastic?
Gee Wilikers you're good with the handicapped sledges.

It says east coast.
If the Eastern suburbs part is so important why didn't you call yourself Eastern suburbs tiger???
That'd make nearly as less sense as it does now ey?

Just so you know.
I'm viewing on an iPhone so I cant see the minute writing on the actual logo.
However
The logo looks exactly like the old Balmain tigers logo which is probably where this was stolen from.

People are going to think you are a tigers fan when you use their logo as an avatar.

Can't believe you find this hard to grasp.

East coast could mean where you live for all I know.

But anyway tell me about how you'll fix crowd numbers.

If you knew anything about the sport outside the NRL you might actually have some hope of knowing exactly why East Coast would go with an Eastern Suburbs logo.

And I can see Eastern Suburbs on the logo on my iPhone so you must be blind as well as thick.

Melbourne have bigger crowds than over half the NRL, yet they are a failure.

Give me a spell.

Why am I fixing crowds?

I just came here to respond to your ridiculous assertions that crowd figures from 1995-97 have any relevance to the future of the NRL and that Perth's were the worst. At no point was this about "fixing crowds" so to randomly demand it from me is just another ludicrous comment.
