But will they fill it.
NRL seems to have a habit of upgrading grounds with capacity ala Penrith and getting less fans.

Had it been finished for the manly game there woulda been 23k.

N what's the Nrl got to do with it? The major stadium in a regional city of 300k was falling apart

All stadiums are built to hold significantly more than the clubs average crowd. This is common practice all over the world.
Most upgrades in the NRL have been for better facilities - not increased capacity.

Not exactly sure how Mt Smart Stadium is looking at the moment. To be honest, i wouldn't mind moving to North Harbour Stadium if we plan on moving. I'm not a fan of Eden Park.

FFS can some one ban this Pom-union-fan-broken-record?

f**k off you GIT...you stupid as Iam League first by a mile but unlike you I still see problems with the game that need to be sorted.

On another subject how much does it cost to run all the NRL stadiums in a year and how many stadiums are used by the NRL because I was looking at how many stadiums AFL use and it's about 9 including what the GWS monkeys will be playing out off.

Lol. When did the NRL pay for an upgrade to our ground? Must have been a long long time ago.

Honestly mate, your heart seems in the right place, but you probably wouldn't get as much abuse if you didn't talk so much shit. Give it a rest.

One of things I want in life is just for every club in the NRL,SL as well as semi-pro Rugby League to be 75%-100% full that's all.

P.S. also want to see a more friendly, more caring stewards/security at the grounds as well as VFM for the punter.

It's all possible.

I think we can all agree on this mate, but the answer is to progressively make our crowds larger, NOT make the stadiums smaller.

We are on course to break our crowd record again this year. Small steps.

Anybody interested in seeing the plan for Perth's stadium development can download the master plan here:
http://www.dsr.wa.gov.au/nibstadium

It lays out the facilities, size etc. work is due to commence at the end of this year on stage one. Good to see the large number of corporate facilties but will be a shame to eventually lose the shed standing end. I'd rather have seen this developed further as terraced standing with a full roof to give the stadium a uniqueness. Would also have given a bigger capcity.

Summary
25,000 all seater
Cost $232 million
corporates 40 suites, 120 boxes, 2 x300 person lounges
3 home team changing rooms, one dedicated to each tennant team
Commencing late 2011, full completion 2018

Very good read.

Perth do you know which construction program they have chosen?

I'd hope they go for the single stage delivery but that would mean the Glory and Force playing at the WACA or Patterson.

All the rest won't see it ready by the time the Reds enter the comp.

The last I heard it would be a stage one construction that would involve the development of one of the new main stands. There was some debate between the clubs who wanted the West (corporate/team facilities) stand first and the State Govt who wanted to build the East (fans) stand first. My understanding is that a compromise has been reached with a new East stand that will include a lot of new corporate suites. This will use up the allocated $80mill that is in this years budget (will also include upgrades to lighting and installation of permenant big screens) and then the West stand will be next at a cost of around $100mill (muted to commence 2014). Final stage will see the two ends get done at a further $140mill (muted to be 2016 start). First stand due to start end of 2011 and be fininshed early 2013. This will give a slightly larger capacity of around 23K plus much better corporate boxes for the Reds kick off in 2014 (fingers crossed!)

On the money Perth Red

I wish they would just go for the all in on redevelopment

The development announced in the budget will commence after the Super Rugby comp has finished in 2012. Wonder if the Western Force will play alot of home games early in the season to accomodate this?

I love the 3 home tenant dressing sheds. Reds can perm brand the room as their own.

Question. Why 25? Is there no expectation they could draw higher?

Perhaps it will be like Melbourne when they played at Olympic park, bigger games and finals could be moved to oval grounds?

Don't Rugby Union play some test on that cricket ground called subicao or something similar to that?
