He means in terms of maneuvering of seating and so forth. While Stade de France is awesome... the seating doesn't change between field configurations.

BDGS maybe I misread the tone of your post, if so I apologise.

Thanks mate, so that's still planned?

We've discussed this before, but is it entirely being funded by the government over there, or are the AFL chipping in?

ie Will the stadium be managed free of AFL interference?

yes premier just announced it will be built at Burswood, next to the river. WAFL will have alot of say as they own the tennancy on Subiaco however the AFL par se are not putting any money in. Just as the WAFL welcomed the Western Force to Subi as well as soccer and other events (very nice earner for them!) they will be more than happy to see as many big event as possible held at the new stadium.

Sadly the rectangle stadium you see next to it in this article isn;t going to be built! Real shame as would have created an amazing sporting/entertainment area.

Any stadium with an athletes track is a no-go.

Loving the look of win. But why is it going to take another 5 months from here?

No proper faclities in the grandstand yet, what you see it basically what is there. Proper toilets, entry gates, food/bars, coporate areas are yet to begin construction.

Whats happening to Subiaco? Downgraded to Wafl/community standard or completely demolished

Demolished and redevloped for housing/offices. Although I was reading the local paper the other day and the Subi council/Subi trade group are lobbying the State Govt to build a rectangular stadium on the site! Very unlikely it will happen.

WIN looks good. From the pic it looks like the roof extends out quite far, is that actually the case or is it a trick of the angle?

I'll have a look tomorrow, but from sketches I saw it seems it will extend to all par the first one or two rows of the concourse level.

$7m boost for stadium

The State Government has reversed tack on the redevelopment of rectangular nib stadium in East Perth, deciding it will now include corporate facilities in the planned new eastern grandstand.

State Cabinet on Monday approved an increase in the grandstand project's budget to $95.1 million from $88.5 million so extra facilities can be included when it goes to tender later this year.

The stand will include 56 open corporate boxes, seating 420, and a 250-people barbecue terrace.

The facilities will allow the stadium's users, which include the Western Force rugby team and Perth Glory, to generate extra income.

Sport and Recreation Minister Terry Waldron said it had become clear after consultations with the venue’s tenants that extra corporate facilities were needed to help ensure the viability of the rectangular codes.

Perth Glory also calls nib Stadium home and the venue is expected to underpin a Perth bid to join the National Rugby League for the 2013 or 2014 season.

“The initial proposed scope of works, while benefitting spectators and members attending nib, provided minimal revenue-generating opportunities for the sports,” Mr Waldron said.

Western Force chief Vern Reid said rugby was delighted with the changes, which would provide the club with extra corporate sales opportunities the club had foregone after deciding to move from Subiaco Oval, now Patersons Stadium, to nib Stadium two seasons ago.

He said nearly one quarter of the Force’s revenue came from corporate hospitality sales.

“It covers off everything that we were seeking – we couldn’t be happier,” Mr Reid said.

It is understood protracted negotiations between the Government and the Town of Vincent over a 50-year lease of the venue have still not been finally resolved, despite an announcement of a $6 million in-principle deal 11 months ago.
